The Iraq powderkeg.
Everyday, another beheading. The two Italian women killed. CBS showed the terrible fighting going on in Iraq. As bad as things are, I can't help but feel something even worse is about to happen. We have totally lost control of the situation there. The terrorists keep stepping up the attacks, grabbing more and more people. How long before they manage to get a high profile individual? Would our government let a high ranking General get beheaded? A high ranking Iraqi member of our puppet government? Would they dare intervene for a General but not a civilian? How long before the Americans decide to set up a guillotine of their own? I remember well the atrocities committed by our own during Vietnam. Iraq is much worse.

In spite of our forces, no one is safe. The terrorists seem to move about freely, kidnapping at will, dumping off bodies whenever they choose.

I am really freaked out here. Whats it going to take to get us out of there? The CBS news tonight indicated plans for a major offensive, as in MAJOR offensive with lots of American lives lost, to take place right after the elections. It won't matter who wins the election. Smirk will still be in charge, so even if we defeat him, he still has until January 20th to continue his insanity.

You know, I always wondered, when ever I would read about Nazi Germany, HOW did the Germans get so deceived? I never thought I would witness the same thing happening here.

2. bush continues to put on a happy face about all this
He has something up his sleeve, he always does. He is a real little prick and he doesn't like disrespect or getting laughed at. They have some real evil stuff in the works, because every day there is a little leak about it. They have also called up a lot of NG reinforcements lately too.

Of course they have tried this shit before in Fallujah after they fried the "contractors" and it didn't work. The badass general there claims that he was winning, but we know otherwise.

3. Bush is not fighting the war to win
for fear that a large body count will hurt him before the elections. So our soldiers and service personnel are simply sitting ducks over there, watching as large portions of the country are taken by insurgents and hostages are beheaded.

It is impossible for America to win the war on terror alone (of which Iraq has become since Bush invaded). We need a leader who will assemble the global coalition needed to crush a global terrorist network. Unilateralism is not only stubborn and wreckless, it's ineffective.

4. Excellent post
The escalation of beheadings is taking things to a whole new level, as well as the skyrocketing civilian and soldier deaths everywhere ...everywhere!
Iraq is just absolute insanity. More and more it's "The Heart of Darkness." And it's just unbelievable that Bush is just playing hokey-pokey over there, waiting for the political green light to go in and get our troops slaughtered wholesale so he looks tough. He is the epitome of evil.

5. Just noticed your sig, aaronbees
Tom Waits! Rain Dogs is the best, the whole thing, but especially the first half.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Yes, we need to get Kerry in there and soon, so the entire world can breath a sigh of relief.
