Enough of the BS about Bush being a debate champ--I have faith in JK
Oh, I know that we are supposed to downplay expectations for JK, but I can't with a straight face, especially after this latest Bush press conference say that Bush is some kind of debate champ and that I'm worried about John Kerry.

I do worry about the media who like to prop the Schrub up as long as he shows up at a debate and doesn't soil himself and bump into the furniture. But Bush will have absolutely nothing new to say on Iraq or the economy. He has to defend his record.

I have faith in Kerry. He will come in on an equal standing with the (clear throat) president of the United States. He will be poised, competent and articulate. He will keep Bush on the defensive. He will impress the wide viewing audience. In fact, the first debate will probably decide the race--most people will tune into this debate because it is the first one.

If Kerry makes his case in a concise and clear manner and keeps Bush on the defensive regarding the policies of the last four years--he will win. I don't expect that we will see Kerry rolling his eyes or sighing.

I don't think Kerry will have to combat nerves either. I think he has nerves of steel. He has been up against the Vietcong shooting at him on a battlefield of war. This? he is up against some chimp, who spent the war drunk and snorting coke in Alabama. Now, Bush--I could see him being a bit nervous--he might even need a drink to steady himself before hand.

1. Do we have anything to gain by lowering expectations of Bush?
The last time we lowered expectations of Bush's debating skills, he won the debates against Gore by simply showing up and drooling.

Kerry does have the advantage of knowing that Bush, in the debates, will simply spew the same talking points he always spews. So, Kerry has no excuse for not having good responses to counter those talking points.

3. Most of the threads about Bush being a good debater are

sarcastic and meant to be a joke....

They are especially poking fun at how THE MEDIA keeps propping Bush up as a great debater and 'has never lost a debate.'

11. Bush a Debate Champ?
Where the hell did this come from? The guy can barely string a coherent sentence together and now he's a "debate champ?"

Did they perhaps mean "debate chimp?"
