Was Bush REALLY that bad?
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 12:23 PM by Jack_Dawson
I'm at work...but...isn't EVERY shrub press conference disasterous? Then they cut to the talking whores who spin about his "commanding" and "decisive" performance. Then they play the one clip where he sounds semi-coherent, and then that's the end of it, right?

What was so bad about THIS press conference versus every other one?

Feed the cuberats...we need it.

9. Exactly. We saw the NAKED EMPEROR, but the corporate media
and his fawning bots will assure us of the beauty of the cut, the fineness of the cloth, of *'s new suit.

2. You decide...
MSNBC now on with Meeks (D) and Smith (R) discussing Allawi's speech to Congress.

Question: Senator Smith, a lot of people believe that Allawi has gotten involved in the campaign and gave a speech designed to re-elect President Bush. ...

8. There ya go.
That is what my impression is as well. Allawi has reduced himself to no more than a political operative for Shrub.

Too much Dan Rather and Laci Peterson news right now.

6. He did OK.
nothing great, nothing awful. a thoroughly average performance in the six or seven minutes I caught. He doesn't have the ability to get people to really listen to him, he isn't a good speaker, just average. Think high-school speech class.

12. I caught a bit between trips to the grill.
I caught snippets totaling about six or seven minutes, Alawi talking included. The portions I caught seemed totally average. Just like high school. Didn't seem like a polished speaker, just seemed average.

15. No way -- it was disastrous!!
I didn't see the beginning, but in the portion I heard he said:

- The right-direction/wrong-direction polls in Iraq are better than they are here.

- The army that went into Najaf is an Iraqi army.

- It's important to be clear so Iraqis don't get mixed messages, "That's why I gotta be as clearly as I can."

- He doesn't really know what's happening in Iraq because he's not there, he's here in America where it's 'nice and safe.'

I'm sure there was more.

7. Dubya is a walking, talking version
of the "shuffle" feature on your CD player.

"These people want freedom/this is hard work/We can't turn back/give in/negotiate with terrists/We are safer."

He was also blindsided by a question about Gen. Abizaid asking for more troops. Whoa! Straight up props to ABC's Terry Moran for that one, I think. . .

17. "um ... uh ... 9/11 changed everything ...
terror tactics ... I seen it ... can't sent mixed messages to our troops ..." With the no-neck Iraqi (Saddam 2.0?) standing next to him grinning ... it was pretty bad. He has been good with scripted bs he dishes out on the campaign trail, but he seeemed lost today.

24. watching it on cspan.org, its bad Jack, heh
The media is putting him under a lot of pressure, more than I have seen in a long time. I think the latest polls have emboldened them. Wait till you see it, he embarrassingly tries to find an Iraqi journalist because the Americans are tryin to kick the shit out of him.

27. Other than the fact that he isn't a presidential speaker,
there was nothing that I saw extraordinary about it. Don't waste your time watching it: the coWard-in-chief was simply presenting an overly-optimistic view of Iraq to the press. That was the only thing I could term as "bizarre" about it.

29. A blithering idiot, as usual
Just watching his ugly face makes me ill. One would think that a person of such modest abilities would be ashamed to stand in front of the world and talk as if he merited being President of the U.S. He made a complete and total ass of himself. No, I take that back. He IS a complete and total ass, and he just reinforced what all of us (except clueless Repukes) already knew. How the fuck can any Republican stand behind him? Jesus Christ. The man is an utter failure in EVERY regard AND he's an idiot to boot.
