Kerry did not violate military law with his meetings in Paris
Many freepers, including the Swiftboat Liars, say that Kerry violated Uniform Code of Military Justice when he met with North Vietnamese in Paris. The violation, if true, would is punishable by anything from court marshall to death!

Well, through a post here I learned that Kerry was not subject to the military code because he was in the reserves, and the military code only applies when someone is in uniform. When Kerry was in Paris, he was not in uniform. He was merely a citizen.

I posted this infor on a site where I have running argument with a military freeper. He doubted my info, and looked into it himself. Here's what he reported:

"I just got off the phone with the Naval Air Station - New Orleans Legal Office. And, to my surprise, Active Reserve personnel are only subject to the UCMJ when they are in uniform. So, I will withdraw my disgust with Kerry's actions in meeting with the NV in France."

Since this issue seems to be simmering, I thought it would be worth keeping in mind why Kerry's meetings were not violations of military law, lest the right succeeds in its latest disinformation campaign.

1. Being a deserter in a time of war ala Bush
is punishable by prison time or death also...and Bush WAS a deserter.

2. As far as I know Kerry never went to Paris to meet anyone in the NV
and the story itself is a fucking lie.

3. I give the freeper credit
My pet freeper would never make an admission like that. He'd just avoid the thread and use another attack mode.
