Stations Get E-mails to Oust Dan Rather
If this is true, we should start our own campaign to counter it. Fucking freeper bastards. They have no goddamn shame. None at all.

Stations Get E-Mails to Oust Dan Rather

1 hour, 38 minutes ago

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Station managers at several CBS affiliates said Thursday they appear to be a target of a national e-mail campaign placing pressure on the network to oust Dan Rather as anchorman of the "CBS Evening News."

The anger stems from Rather's role in a "60 Minutes" report on President Bush (news - web sites)'s service in the National Guard. CBS has apologized for reporting on documents critical of Bush's service, widely assumed now as fakes, and appointed a panel to investigate what went wrong in the report.

Bob Lee, president and general manager of WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Va., and head of the CBS affiliate board, said many e-mailers offer the same message: I will not watch CBS News again until Rather is gone.

1. Just keep the TV on Dan
the ratings will win out over e-mails. And so far Dan's got that wired.

28. Freepers never liked Rather anyway
So what's their point? I don't like O'Lielly, Blowvac, et. al. either. I've sent 2 emails to CBS to support Dan the Man and I guess I'll keep sending them.

6. It was a radio station
Just to be factual.

Changing TV affiliation would be very difficult.

8. I sent this email
to my local affiliate, and to evening@cbsnews.com:

Dear Mr. Rosenheim,

I understand there has been an active campaign initiated to inundate CBS and its affiliates with mail written to pressure stations to remove Dan Rather as anchor of the "CBS Evening News." I have been a regular viewer of the "CBS Evening News" since my move to California 11 years ago, and I am writing to you today to counter this campaign. Dan Rather has usefully served his viewing public for many years, and to see him removed over one issue, most particularly *this* issue, would be inappropriate, at least in this viewer's eyes. I encourage you and the CBS News team to ignore those who would remove him. Thank you.

Sincerely,

11. I've already posted it, but...
Here was my e-mail:

Dear Mr. Rather,

I know there are many calling for your resignation right now. Let me be
direct: if Donald Rumsfeld is allowed to keep his job, then there is no
reason you should be forced to give up yours.

29. my email
Dear Mr. Rosenheim,

In the past I've been a casual viewer of the CVS Evening News. I understand there's a right wing movement afoot to try and pressure CBS carriers. I can't tell you how strongly I object to these tactics. I and my friends intend to offer every possible support for you and your network. Naturally I'll be watching your programs with far greater frequency than in the past; recording them if need be!

Best wishes,

9. Remember tittygate?
After the superbowl there were conservative groups that had their members (tehe) email the fcc. I think this is the same thing. I bet all the right groups are their "Folks" mass email.

23. and CBS just got over a half million $$$$ fine for J.J.'s publicity stunt.
and I don't know of one person who actually saw her naked nipple on TV as the camera was cut off immediately and it was covered so quickly with pixels. This huge fine was another way to get CBS who the right feels is biased towards the left.

But what can one expect when John Ashcroft takes $8K of our taxpayer's money to drape the bare aluminum breast on the statue of Lady Justice in his lobby that went unnoticed since it was erected in 1930? The real pornography is body parts of women and children all over the Iraqi landscape.

14. Please checkout the "rathergate.com" thread on GD.
It has lots more info on the guy that started that email campaign, AND his not so savory connections. For tidbits, he just happened to be "vacationing in florida" during the recounts...

26. I sent my own message thru rathergate.com...
Mr. Rather may have been hasty in presenting the documents about the president's questionable military history, but he's a hero in that he tried to do what the Fourth Estate is supposed to do: investigate & report to the public.

I ask you to consider this: If other news organizations & CBS affiliates buckle to the demands of partisan pressure to dismiss Mr. Rather, it would intimidate the media in such a way that they will feel stifled in doing their jobs effectively.

Please consider that CBS Evening News' ratings have gone up 14% since this story broke. My guess is that I'm not the only one who admires Mr. Rather for taking a chance on getting the real news out to the people. Many of us have sons & daughters who would be at risk, should a draft be re-instated. We feel that if the president sanctions a character assassination of Sen. Kerry in regard to his heroic military record, then we have a right to know what his accuser's military record is. And if the president wins in November, I want to know what kind of man is sending my son into harm's way.

17. Rather's Peers At Other Networks Should Take Up The Substance of the Story
if they were brave, if they had balls, if they were actually...

journalists.

But they are all lap dogs of the White House and terrified not to blow it with Roger Ailes over at Fox News where they might someday need to apply for work.

It's the Fox Fascist Intimidation Factor.

20. 11 State affiliates CENSORED -Du'ers need to check this out.
I believe DU'ers need to check this out to be sure it isn't the same affiliates that CENSORED out CBS Wednesday night when his interview with Mrs. Knox's forgive spelling if wrong was to air. They played a billy gram movie that was not scheduled then said that it would air at 1:30am. Then they ran the news late which made it air at 1:45am. Du'ers really need to check this out because we posted it at the Kerry/Edwards forum. I can not find the post. This was calculated by everyone posting and then figuring out what states it was not on in. Some states had something else besides the movie. This was not scheduled on yahoo or the papers. I wish I could find the post from there.
