The license plates for Ohio say "The heart of it all," and that's where Democratic state committeewoman Mardee Xifaras of Marion will be as the 2004 presidential campaign heads for closing time.
Ms. Xifaras, 59, ran Al Gore's critical Pennsylvania campaign four years ago but, given the time demands of running a full-time operation, this year she has opted to work as a troubleshooting consultant to the Kerry campaign in Ohio after Labor Day.
Now that she's on board, the effervescent Ms. Xifaras is working full throttle, and she's convinced former mayors Rosemary Tierney and John Bullard, as well as Elsie Souza, the local aide to Fourth District Congressman Barney Frank, to help her wow the Buckeye State during the month before the election.
"If you just sit home and watch the drum beat of the nightly news, you'll go nuts," she said.

I know Mardee personally and professionally (she is my lawyer!) and she ran Gore's campagign in PA four years ago. She is extremely good at what she does when she works her magic. Take a deep breath ... Ohio is now winnable with Mardee's arrival!!!
