Emotional moment for VN Vet at Edwards Rally and
it barely got a mention and only MSNBC carried it.
The Viet Nam Vet who is clearly not rated 100 percent total or his wife would have something called Champ Va. Picture this.

He stood as a young lady held the microphone and said, I got this heart problem and I am sharing the meds I get from the VA with my wife because she has no health care and she needs medicine. I cut them and we do the best we can. He got
teary eyes and he was shaking and his voice was cracking. He was shook and I tell you, he took a chance because VA would cut off his medicine if they think he is sharing but he was so choked up and desperate.

Sen. Edwards listened and had the real compassion look on him. He dropped his head and shook it and said, "I hear you Brother". I Hear you." A pin could be heard in the room and such solemn faces.
MSNBC covered that clip but no other..They rather talk Peterson, and CBS, and calling Kerry a person giving aid and comfort to the enemy. They cover the Crhistian Coalition.

How in the world can Edwards or Kerry get the message out when all we got is R winged, Rove marching, Bush worshipping, surrogates for Fascism !

Sad story, but neat to hear people standing up and speaking out, especially our vets.

Why can't these moments become ads?
This, as an ad, would do more than an attack ad.

21. Funny you should mention that, Vetwife...
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 07:04 PM by Carla in Ca
I called for an hour, no luck. So I emailed them(do they really read them?) and said;

Negative ads are easy to do and can backfire.
Did you see John Edwards talking to the Vet about his health care? That should be an ad!

Did you see John Kerry talk to the heckler about the AIDS crisis? That should be an ad!

I also told them I would send them ANOTHER $100.00 to help with the cost if they call me.

We'll see.

on edit: By the way, what happened with those nasty people who were harrassing you last week? Let me know.

14. It might be effective in a campaign ad.
Perhaps opposite one of George waxing poetic about the great health care strides he has made.

18. There are so may heartbreaking stories to be told.
A toast to this man's bravery for telling his :toast:

I was listening to the radio today and ran across some idiot discussing the gay marriage issue. Repubs, of course. One man said that he thought this was a much more important issue than hunger and the economy. I was screaming at my radio "Tell that to someone who doesn't have food to eat, you dumbass!!!"

Time will tell, I guess, if enough people have time to make "non-issues" their top priority.

23. My God that made me cry
there are so many veterans in my family.

I've always said--the people who give the MOST to their country should be treated the BEST, not the worst or at the bottom of the barrel.

It's a crying freaking SHAME. WHY do we not give a shit in this country whether people can even afford to buy medicines that keep them ALIVE???

The time is right. We need a universal health care system NOW. NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW.

27. We are not important anymore
We are not taxpayers or workers. My husband nor I can afford our prescribed medications. We both have heart conditions and have been prescribed Plavix. I am also a diabetic and have high cholesterol, but cannot afford those prescriptions either. The total for these prescriptions would come to around $600 a month. We also draw too much social security to be eligible for the new prescription benefit, if it ever comes out.

We have raised five children, all of which are taxpayers and workers, but I guess that doesn't count. My husband is on medicare because he was declared disabled in 1985, but I fall through the cracks. I quit work to take care of him, so, no insurance and we draw too much social security for me to be eligible for medicaid. So, we do without. I am told to be eligible we would have to get rid of our home which has become the most important thing to us as we grow older and older. Sad, but I am grateful for the internet and the many hours of comfort I get from same. No, my children cannot help. They are all struggling to make ends meet. We've become the throw-away generation, not important to too many people.
