New Poll: Oregon 51-43 for Kerry
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 04:24 PM by WI_DEM
Gore won Oregon by a razor thin margin. The West coast is seeming much more solid this time around.

This counters the SUSA poll yesterday which gave Bush a 1-point edge in the state.

p.s.
this is a gain for Kerry according to Rasmussen. After the GOP convention they had Kerry up by only 3--so Oregon moves from toss up to leaning Kerry.

1. SUSA is seeming more and more inaccurate.
They were bad before, but now it's becoming blatantly obvious that they're trying to sabotage the Dem. morale.

4. I saw my local news

A DC station so its gotta be somewhat moderate roll out a map where "Bush is making inroads" and Oregon was one of the states.

The great thing about these silly polls is if Bush thinks he can win a state like Oregon (where he was close in 2000) it means he isn't in Ohio, Florida or PA.

I said it 6 months ago...if Kerry losses Oregon the election is over anyway. In fact, I argue the state of Oregon won't even matter. If we can't get Oregon then we would have likely lost all the battle-ground states to that point.

We will win Oregon by 5% minimum

6. Take Nader out of the equation and Gore won solidly
although the pundits will NEVER mention that fact.

Kerry will win Oregon handily by between 7 and 10 percent.

btw: The Oregon Supreme Court yesterday affirmed that Nader WILL NOT be on the ballot this year. :hippie:

7. Volunteers
have been very active and energized here in Oregon. I've met people pissed off at Bush, working on the Kerry campaign from teens to senior citizens in their 80's. We've got much work to do (ballots mailed out here in about 3 weeks) but lots of people needed on the street still to educate undecided voters.

8. No surprise! Many Republicans will be voting for Kerry this year
Bush-Hating is not a Democratic phenomenon.

10. ANY polling org that shows Bush closer than -3 in Oregon is
one that should not be trusted elsewhere. Good rule of thumb for winnowing out crappy sample polls (of which there seem to by a WHOLE LOT this year)

11. Here's what our local Portland paper said:
http://www.portlandtribune.com/archview.cgi?id=26290

• Kerry led Bush statewide 51 percent to 44 percent, with 5 percent undecided.
• Respondents held more favorable opinions of Kerry than of Bush. The Massachusetts Democrat was viewed favorably by 48 percent and unfavorably by 39 percent, while Bush was seen favorably by 44 percent and unfavorably by 47 percent.
• Kerry led in the three-county Portland metro area, 57 percent to 36 percent, and in Lane County, 54 percent to 38 percent. Bush led in Jackson County, 55 percent to 37 percent.
• Bush led narrowly among men, 49 percent to 48 percent, while Kerry held a more substantial lead among women, 54 percent to 39 percent. Dondero said this indicates the Swift boat controversy may matter more to men than to women

So much for the women loving Dubya! Propagandist crapola.
