Finally, Kerry has a message with oomph

When I heard this, it sounded like a body blow to Bush that knocked the wind right out of him:

"George Bush focused on Saddam Hussien. I would have focused on Osama bin Laden."

That statement moves the disaster in Iraq onto the front burner, and pushes aside all this crap about Vietnam.

It also takes Bush's monopoly on the issue of national security away from him. The fact that Iraq is a quagmire is only half the point--the other half is the fact that Osama is still on the loose, leaving us vulnerable to a more immediate threat than Saddam ever was.

The Bush faithful will see this as utterly ridiculous, but it may resonate with independents.
