1. They would fall for it.
And honestly, Kerry would probably lose the elction. You'd be kidding yourself if you don't think capturing OBL would help Bush.

17. Yea, they would, hook line and sinker.
Actually though, I think the announcement will come on the 31st "Halloween"
It is Sunday (the last one before the election)
Sunday morning will get them all the news and talk shows on Sunday.
Additionally, it gets them all the praise, prayers and other rhetoric from the pulpits (their base).
We are running a pool at the office predicting when the announcement will take place.
All dates from now to Oct. 31 are taken.

2. I just hope France, Germany, or another country from "Old Europe"
catches bin Laden. That would be quite a blow to the shrub.

5. Do you really have to ask?
They'd fall all over themselves in the rush to start fawning over Bush and his victory in the War on Terra. Unless, of course, something drastically changes in the media's activity between now and then. I wouldn't bet on it, though.

6. There would be the proverbial...
message scrawled on a napkin from Dick to Junior that reads:

"We got him!"

And that would be plastered all over the media...

7. Bush has given Al Qaeda time to mutate into a a global hydra, dispersed
and multi-headed in many countries. Bin Laden is now just a
symbolic leader who is just as powerfull dead as alive.

Killing Bin Laden LATE in almost as bad as NEVER.

8. are you kidding? a miniseries on cable!!
logically considering the past behavior of al quida in such matters, the green light would be given to a covert terrorist cell for another major attack as a response to bin laden's capture.

there might be 4-5 days of euphoria in america over the capture, but another attack, in the US would bring home the true nature of al quida by election day.

10. I don't think the media will fall all over Bush
My theory is that the media wants to keep this race close for as long as possible. They don't want it to get lopsided, but neck and neck throughout. This creates more drama, and drama=ratings.

I don't feel Bush will really get a huge bounce from capturing bin Laden. By then, I think everyone's minds will be made up. The anti-Bush crowd will never vote for him. And remember, Saddam's capture didn't really help Bush out much.

I do like Theresa's comments about bin Laden. The Pubbies are spinning it like a top, claiming she's nuts for saying it. But it spreads the message around, and mutes the effect of an "October Surprise". And "Fahrenheit 9/11"'s DVD release will bring with it the return of the whole controversy.

So, I don't think bin Laden's capture will really affect the race much.

13. Bush would be exalted as the second son of god.
And win the election.

I don't think they have him. If they had him during the dem convention, they would have trotted him out then. They aren't competent enough to capture him in the time between the convention & election.

My prediction: Kerry will win by a landslide.

14. I've been saying this for weeks.
Kerry needs to get out ahead of this story and make it an INSULT to the American people that if OBL was found tomorrow, that it should be an outrage that he could magically be found only weeks before the election and not before.

He has to start saying things like, "if Bin Laden were captured or killed tomorrow we should be livid that it couldn't have been done a year ago before we lost thousands of lives." He has to prepare people to be infuriated that all of a sudden...just in time for the election he can be produced. Preparing Americans that all along it had been an election gimmick.

I'm telling you, when these polls show Bush in trouble, he will do anything to try to produce OBL. He will secretly re-deploy military operations and threaten them to go all out to find Bin Laden. He wouldn't care if 50,000 Marines died next week. I wouldn't even put it past him to go as far as phoney-ing up some DNA from a bone somewherere.

We have to be ready for this lowest possible desperation hail Mary pass by this academy award winner of sleaze. And start playing D-O-W-N Bin Laden until Kerry is President.

15. I think the media
should ignore it. Bush has ignored Osama bin Forgotten for nearly 3 years. But that would never happen.

Kerry should respond by giving much praise and criedit to whoever catched Osama. Put the focus on his captors and not on Bush.

18. A collective Blow Job for *
I happen to think that Bin Laden is dead and even if he isn't and he were to be dragged out in the whitehouse pressroom in chains it's not going to make a damn bit of difference as far as terrorisim is concerned. that genie ain't going back in that bottle.

19. Teresa Heinz Kerry suggested today that OBL might be found
in October. I think it is wise that she bring this up, rather than her husband. If Kerry did it himself, he would be accused of being paranoid or an alarmist. If in fact Bush and Co. produce Osama Bin Laden shortly before the election, we can always point to Teresa's prediction with "We told you so!" It will make people realize that this is just too convenient, and could backfire on the Republicans.

20. And remember, Madeline Albright mentioned this a while back too.
The Democrats know what the repukes are capable of. Our intelligence had plenty of opportunities to catch this guy. I really do believe they've had him cornered for a while and will finally snatch him next month to save Bush's sorry ass. The media will drool all over this and the public will eat it up. Shrubnuts gets the WH another fucking four years.

23. Osama will never be caught....here is why------>
Do you all recall how regularly osama video tapes were
appearing on Al Jazeera before the Afghan war? Have we
seen even a single video since Tora Bora? There is no
way Osama would not use his video's to exhort and encourage
his followers. Instead we see video's of his 2nd in command
Jawahiri.

With internet, one can deliver a video without ever stepping
out of the house. All this points to only one thing...Osama
was killed sometime in 2002. Ofcourse his lieutenants do not
want this known since it will certainly demoralize his troops.

All we have heard are some audio transmissions of Osama's voice
which are grainy and have no reference to specific new events.

Let's call in inspector Cluseau to confirm my hypothesis!

Kerry has nothing to worry about Osama-October-SUrprise.
