People, even people we like, like Maher and Rangel are IDIOTS
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 10:12 PM by soleft
On HBO saying Kerry didn't strike back after the Republican Convention.

EXCUSE ME???????

What the hell do you call having a rousing rally at 12am an hour after Bush leaves the stage?

15. Maher's simply an asshole
who says a lot of things that need to be said.

But as a person, he's pretty wretched.

Yeah, he used to be all about Kerry, belittling Dean and anybody else, saying Kerry was the guy who was the real seasoned pro.

And now he's bashing him right and left.

He's just an asshole.

20. I agree with your assessment. I use to like Maher until
he turned into a whimp over the coward statement, and then kowtowed to junior until he found others to hide behind.

5. There was some idiot comedian on Colin Quinn's show
last night talking about how terrorists are afraid of Bush because he's some bad-ass "Texas cowboy." I guess they wouldn't be so afraid if they also knew he was an Andover cheerleader? :eyes:

Colin Quinn's an idiot shill, anyway... I only caught the first five mins. because he comes on after Jon Stewart.

acting clueless.

Their complaints were valid last week, not now.

Saying Kerry's been wearing "man panties"?

After THIS WEEK?!

He and Maher must've gotten paid off by Karl Rove this week.

8. Though Mayher despises Bush and I do watch his show, it is also
obvious that he sees little difference between Kerry and Bush, he will vote Kerry, he has said so but he is really not helping kerry when he makes his little comments against him which he does each week, I am not sure I have him figured out yet..

He's funny, but at this point I don't trust him, I trust John Stewart more and he too has some problems with Kerry but is not so shrill about it as maher can be..

9. I think Moore is right, stick to Jon Stewart show
I used to like Bill Maher but the last few shows he is showing so much anger at Kerry and calling him names he is NOT helping the campaign at all. I could tell tonight the guy who wrote Mash wasn't happy with him. He was even at one point getting the guy from Bonndocks to side with him and that pissed me off. I think I am done watching him!

11. The guy who wrote Mash is
Dem, no doubt?

Would it have killed, either Macgruder or Rangle or somebody to have mentioned Kerry's speech at NYU, this week and all the ads and all the thousands of People at Edwards and Kerry rallies?

12. I think we are being too tough on Maher
I saw the show- and yes, I thought the criticism of Kerry did not acknowledge the new, improved, more aggressive tone of his campaign. To be fair, we should note that their criticism seemed born of despair that Kerry wasn't doing well enough against W. We should also acknowledge that Kerry's new forceful tone is just that- NEW. With the exception of Maureen Dowd, the panelists- Maher included, probably aren't the rabid political junkies that your average DUer is.

For YEARS, I have been arguing against- and flabbergasted by the "Liberal Media" conspiracy theory that has come to be accepted as truth by the majority of Americans. RECENTLY, I have found myself in the uncomfortable and somewhat ironic position of sincerely believing that there is a massive "Right-Wing" conspiracy afoot in the mainstream media that includes ALL major networks, Time, Newsweek,USA Today, and several major pollsters. I am to the point I can't watch something as bland and traditionally non-partisan as the Today Show without screaming profanity.

There MUST be some media outlets that aren't doing Rove's bidding. I am POSITIVE that Jon Stewart is no fan of W and not afraid to say so. I am equally sure that Maher is no friend of the shrub and is willing to speak his mind- we just don't always agree.

18. Baloney. Maher acknowledges he reads several newspapers and
watches TV news constantly to keep up. Thats why he does the read to the Prez section and most of his stuff is pulled from the news. Like many silly DUer's he is just pissed tht Kerry isn't doing what he wants him to do so he is going to help him with unsolicited advice and trashing him. This sucks and I am sick of it. I only kept HBO for Bill but that may end. I will let him know why too!

13. I was dissapointed in Rangel
Sure he did get some really good hits against Bush, but he didn't do much to defend Kerry.

The least he could have done is mentioned that Kerry made some great speeches and was more aggressive this week.

Democrats have absolutely no coordination and little discipline. I don't think I've ever seen a GOP rep make any critical statements about Bush on a talk show.

16. For the first 10 minutes I thought I was watching a rerun.
Kerry has been in serious attack mode all week and no mention of it at all.

It was only when they started talking about CBS/Dan Rather I realized it was a new show.

19. I think Bill is just a little frustrated at this point
He sees our average voter as being dumb as a log. He's right. I think that if the cost of education had not become so outrageous, then americans could avail themselves of courses in the liberal arts and humanities. Unfortunately, any continuing education they pursue nowadays is more job related, like learning the newest electronic ignition systems of the automobile.

He is becoming very off putting. Be angry at home Bill, but spend your public air time encouraging people to vote -- don't spend it being a jerk.

22. the cost of education
I don't think Americans are so dumb because education is too expensive. Record numbers of us are going to college. But the message prevalent in the colleges is that liberal arts classes are just dumb things you have to do on the way to buying your degree. The real problem is that thousands of Americans get college degrees every year without having learned how to think critically.

23. I'm getting sick of the Kerry-bashing too. I was ready to slap Bill again!
I think a further discussion of our unwillingness (as a society) to give anything up to solve our problems would have been a lot more productive than the rants about "man panties" and "feminization." I was already annoyed before they started using the girly-man metaphors. If I wanted to hear that sort of BS, I'd be a Republican!
