Saddam to Declare Candidacy for Iraqi Elections

Overthrown Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, who was arrested by US forces last December, reportedly plans to run as a candidate in the Iraqi elections scheduled for January 2005.

Saddam's lawyer Giovanni di Stefano told Denmark's B.T. newspaper that Saddam decided during one of their discussions that he would declare his candidacy for the elections.

Saddam's lawyer defends that the ambiguity in Iraq will favor Saddam at the polls. Stefano remarked that a recent Gallup poll indicates that 42 percent of the Iraqi people want their former leader back

2. If the Iraqis really want a dictator,
we could just get Scrub on the ballot over there where he could continue his reign as tater-dick in chief and we could have a real president here. It's a win-win situation!

Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 09:07 AM by kerryin2004
The only country Bush might get elected in would be here in the USA and maybe Poland.. Otherwise anywhere else in the world and he loses in a landslide!

8. In an international poll in 30 or more large countries...
...Poland was one of only three that supported Bush. In most of the large European countries, Bush had less than 20% support.

He could steal the election, just like he did here in 2000...

4. There really is a delicious irony in this.....
I know I shouldn't think that, but I do...

The running joke in Badhdad when Saddam was captured was that he really should have been killed; otherwise the Iraqis would reelect him in a few months....Hmmmmm

9. Oh that's rich!
Of course, I feel sorry for the innocent victims who are always suffering in Iraq- whether it's Saddam, the U.S. or someone else kicking their asses.

But I have to admit I would love to see Dumbya's reaction.

10. Now that would be funny...sad for the iraqis, but...
funny in a crazy ironic sort of way. I mean, I think the Iraqi people are smarter than that to actually elect him...I think there are many others they would rather see. But if he ran and got a large percentage, that would be a huge slap in Bush's face.
