2. I used to participate in Free Republic

I used to participate in Free Republic laying the part of a moderate until a few years ago.

I have no way of verifying the accuracy of my recollection, but I remember a post in which it said that Jim Robinson suffered from cerebral palsy or some other serious disease. The reason I remember this is because at around the same time, he posted a comment in a thread asking if people thought that AIDS was God's way of punishing homosexuals. I thought there was a sad irony to that.

I got kicked out of Free Republic after the site had a falling out with Drudge who stopped linking to them. I made a snide remark, and I was thrown out of the forum. Oh well, even though I was respectful, the Freepers didn't stand a chance against liberalism!

You'll turn up tons of stuff there. Robinson lives in Fresno. His son is the webmaster. He used to be a solid conservative, but has given up his conservative principles since 2000. On his web site is a mission statement that is now laughable -- a mockery.

He used to post on Prodigy's News BB in the "Whitewater" Topic. Then he turned that into a product of the anti-Clinton cottage industry. Not real smart, but in the right place at the right time and persistent.

Democratic Underground
DU is the Liberal "antidote" to Free Republic. Its message board isn't as user friendly as FR's and it has also been accused of over-moderation. Many Freepers post there under fake names and then run back to FR to file tedious reports to the big cheese - which are usually deleted instantly by Jim's moderators.

WTF? Their interface looks like it was built by a suited monkey with Downs who had a weasel in his pants, and they say that ours isn't "as user friendly?"

15. Look at the FR Budget.

Have a close look at the freerepublic budget. You may find that the amount they say they are charged for bandwidth is much more than the going rate. IOW, he may not be telling the complete truth in regards to his fund raising drives.

You may also check and see how many times during a major political event freerepublic goes 'offline'. These are sometimes followed by people posting to get others to donate money to fix the problems.

It didn't go down on 9/11 and that was one of the bustiest days in fr history.
