Yahoo / Reuters: "Bush Preps for First Debate Against Kerry"...Bwahaha
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=3&u=/nm/20040925/pl_nm/campaign_bush_debate_dc

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) prepared and practiced on Saturday for the first of three presidential debates with rival John Kerry (news - web sites) that could be pivotal in the close election race.

Taking the weekend off from campaigning, Bush retreated to his secluded Texas ranch where White House spokesman Scott McClellan said he would be able to "clear his head" before Thursday's televised face-off.

Bush hopes to be able to "crystallize" his thoughts for the debate, McClellan said. "You obviously only have a limited amount of time to get your points across," he said.

The debate comes as rhetoric from the campaign trail ahead of the Nov. 2 election has become increasingly acrimonious, with Kerry skewering Bush's Iraq (news - web sites) policies and the president taking aim at the senator's fitness to serve as commander-in-chief.

3. In other words
He's off to memorize his lines.

Here's hoping the prearranged questions get shuffled out of order. It would be fun to hear him give a clear, intelligent, thoughtful reponse regarding Iraq when the question was about gay marriage. :)

4. lots of gems in this story
limited time to get Bush's points across? His biggest problem will be coming up with enough filler to get through the two minutes.

10. yeah clear his head
his head is already cleared of grey matter and as empty as ever it has been. He is retreating to Crawford to indulge in a weekend of drinking out of the public eye. He looks like crap. What on earth can he possibly be preparing for? He must know what the questions are already. Is that possible? Or is he memorizing the memes, the cliches and the platitudes that will not answer the question but he will spout anyhow as an answer, totally ignoring any questions? I think that is it.

14. What are you talking about?
Bush has creamed every opponent he's ever faced in a debate! The guy is an absolute, mesmerizing wizard! With his innate, natural ability and his clear grasp of world issues, I'm surprised he even needs to prepare at all.

Kerry has got to be panicking right about now.
