5. Tell him he needs to be VERY CAREFUL about the one liners...
Bush is going to try to humiliate him...

Remember the Rove M.O., attack, and then attack some more. Kerry needs to be on his feet with a quick rejoinder to any attack- especially the "debate himself" attack.

6. Honestly? He has a chance in Texas, this I firmly believe,
mention our state and show we matter...some people are thick headed enough that they need to hear themselves being aired as such to support someone, I know it is a bit cheeky and doesn't say much for some Texans but it cannot hurt...

Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 12:42 AM by jpgray
Tell him to say:

'No, and that's the ultimate indictment of this administration--their incompetent handling of Saddam Hussein's removal has incredibly managed to make this world a more dangerous place.'

You probably won't be able to say all that, but I wish he would have this in a holster for the debates. :)

28. Of course he does, but
Although Kerry's Campaign has not yet produced a comprehensive policy statement on mental health and substance abuse issues and concerns, it is possible to find out what Senator Kerry's beliefs are and what legislation he supports.

# Check the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill -- Presidential Politics & Mental Health Policy Web page -- for some thoughts on mental health policy.

# NAMI.org page posted September 12, 2003 -- Statement on Mental Health Policy by U.S. Senator John Kerry.

# DisabilityWorld.org also published the Kerry Statement on Mental Health Policy in September 2003 -- Statement by John Kerry on Mental Health Policy.

45. Just hug him til his eyes bug out
From a former ABBer, who now loves the stuffing out of John Kerry. If more people would stop listening to the media spin and give him a good hard look, they'd realize what a good, honest, knowledgable and intelligent man he is.

I trust him to make the right decisions, whatever those decisions might turn out to be.

Tell him I'm praying for him, and that I tell everyone who thinks Bush is way ahead in the polls that Kerry will not only win, but that it won't even be close.

God bless him.

25. Yeah, the Republicans hate any references to Iran/Contra....
...messy lil' thing they like to forget about....The fact that Kerry was one of the key people driving behind the investigation that blew that thing wide open, probably doesn't sit well with the Bush family either...ofcourse, daddy Bush was conveniently "absent" from the whole dealings, right?

18. Use the Debate Intro to DEFINE himself...
... Using simple, down-to-earth language. Most of the folks I meet who are on the fence don't know much about Sen. John Kerry. The media haven't done their jobs.

During the debates, Sen. Kerry should also use his answers to CLOBBER Bush as truly a weak leader, president (sic), and man and demonstrate how he is the better choice. He certainly would have the golden opportunity to drop the bomb on Bush, stating how he actually has combatted the financing of international terrorism by shutting down a global criminal enterprise -- BCCI.

BTW: Bush benefitted by getting big loans out of BCCI when he was running his various Texas oil companies into the ground. Ironically, BCCI is the same bank used by the bin Ladens, Manny Noriega, the KGB, Saddam Hussein, the CIA and Ollie North.

22. Three things...
(1) Get his staff to formulate some zingers that will sting Bush and cause him to get flustered and off his talking points. Bush has really thin skin. One possibility: contrast Bush poorly with his father (or vice versa).

(2) Use Rahm Emmanuel as his attack dog.

(3) Designate John Edwards as his "ambassador" to the African-American and Hispanic communities. Give'em some public love and attention.

But with that tell him I BELIEVE, I believe he brings hope, I believe he knows how important it is, I believe he will speak Truth to Power!! Tell him I believe!

...no pressure, of course, but he already knows this....

He actually told me so much when I met him last month when he came to San Francisco for a fundraiser....I got to meet him and gave him a letter with a drawing from my 4 year old that included a picture of her and her sister....He stared at it long and hard and said "You know this election is about them"....We then talked about how he as President will make sure they and this country and world are safer...I then said Namaste to him, he said it back to me and we hugged....

:pals: He's going to be a great President....even my 4 year old knows that! :hi:

You'll like him...he comes across so much warmer in person...I only wish the media could show and capture that...or rather, show the clips...I've seen a few where when he holds children...that's when you see his essence....With * he looks weirded out when holding a kid...

From someone else's post:

Something like when Bush says "My opponent voted for then against the $87" (and we all know that's coming), for Kerry to say, "The President and his administration have a habit of distorting things to the American people. He forgot to mention that he threatened veto on the bill."

53. Relax and be ready to cite the 9th commandment
1. We don't need anything spectacular. We've got hundreds of thousands of volunteers on the ground, getting the job done. Just keep hammering on Bush's demonstrated failures as commander in chief.

2. Be ready to cite the 9th commandment: "Thou Shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Make it personal (specific to Bush) --not general (the GOP & it's thugs.) This will refresh the focus on Bush's disregard for the truth. They won't be expecting Kerry to be citing scripture.

60. excellent
Kerry should definitely cite scripture since he is a good Catholic.

Too many assholes are saying Kerry isn't religious enough or whatever since he is pro-choice. I wish the word would get out that Bush payed for his girlfriend Robin's abortion in 1971 before it was legal in the great state of Texas. Kerry's wives/girlfriends have never had abortions. Kerry even had the good sense to annul his first marriage and not have any children in his second marriage.
