Poll question: does the two faced image need the words?
i posted this in the idea thread, but i think it is a really important question-
just my experience with the wingnuts- i have several buttons with chimpy's face on them among my large selection of buttons. in a neutral setting, like an art fair, i will have wingnuts come up and look over every button, sure that in so many pics, there must be one that is favorable. so, if it uses his picture, the message must be spelled out for these idiots.

10. actually... the image has strong
unconscious impact.

Even for someone who is not anti-bush, the 'unnatural' appearance of his face rubs the subconscious the wrong way. The recognition of the face may occur at many more levels than the immediate consciousness.

So the less 'cognitive' someone is, the more this could affect them.

I'll distribute it without the words - silence has impact. When looking at the image through a quiet mind - all associations are made on deeper levels.
When one introduces words to the image - it turns on a kind of 'mental noise' or internal dialogue. We want this DEEP.

"Bush Lies"

SEE & HEAR VIDEO FOR YOURSELF:
http://www.oliverwillis.com/stuff/abc-bushlie.mp4

"We were struck today by a very pointed attack
by President Bush on John Kerry. First of all,
this is what Mr. Bush said." -- Peter Jennings,
ABC World News Tonight, September 21, 2004

"We agree that the world is a better off with
Saddam Hussein sitting in a prison cell. And that
stands in stark contrast to a statement my opponent
made today when he said that the world was better
off with Saddam in power. I strongly disagree."
-- George W. Bush, September 21, 2004

"And this is what Mr. Kerry actually said."
-- Peter Jennings, ABC World News Tonight,
September 21, 2004

"Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator who
deserves his own special place in hell; but that
was not, that was not -- in and of itself -- a reason
to go to war. The satisfaction that we take in his
downfall does not hide this fact: we have traded
a dictator for a chaos that has left America less
secure." -- John F. Kerry, September 21, 2004

2. My problem with it is that it doesn't say Bush on it
Some people may not realize right away that it is Bush.

And the two-faced words HAVE to be there. They just jump out at you and drive home the meaning. It would be cool to have t-shirts that have that on the front and instances of two-faceness on the back.

4. Yes words, but SMALL words...
DO NOT overpower the image with words.

Keep the letters VERY small, so people have to look twice to read the text. If they have to look twice, they will remember the image and the message.

12. Like this...
Big text spoils the message because people naturally read words first. The text is not the message, the image is the message, the text is secondary:

I'm not plugging this particular design, mind you. It's just a rough example. The reason I'm posting it is that I've seen a few images where the text is overpowering.

29. I like that
I like the original post one also. But I think adding something like,
~Osama Who~ or
~Osama No Osama~ or
~Osama No Bin Laden~

Something simple to go along with ~two-faced~ not only to remind folks but also to get them from point A to 'thought' B. Otherwise their minds will be left to wander off in sound bite land convincing themselves it's just petty partisan nana-nana-NAna cause they called Kerry a flipflopper.

Or print 50 that say ~two-faced~ and another 50 with my idea or your own and then mix and match em all over the neighborhood:evilgrin:
As long as the message is simple :-)

Gee I'm gonna miss doing this kind of stuff after Kerry wins. "By a landslide" says Randi Rhodes:thumbsup: Course after Kerry does win we could still have some fun. Put LOSER in huge diagonal letters over his ugly mug and put those all over the place :bounce: heh heheh

As in "clear skies", as he pens the go ahead to industrial pollution.

As in "no child left behind" as he pens measures to make sure SCHOOLS are left way behind.

As in "freedom marches", as he continues to oppress and war against the people of the world.

As in "bring it on", as he claims a "Victory".

..... Can you think of more?

11. Definitely needs the words
Otherwise it's just looks like a mime or something. Unless there is something there to give it definition, many people won't even recognize that it's the Shrub let alone what it's supposed to mean.

The is to get people to view him as a mealy-mouthed, two-faced little liar. Sure, those of us who already see him that way don't need words, but what about those who are on the fence?

I also don't think it looks like bush.

I do like the concept. Maybe red and black ... red for "red ink" and black for "black ink". Perhaps a cartoon drawing would better get the point across that it is bush.

and without the words, one or both of the two I think come to mind. "Two-faced" is one, but my first thought when I saw it was "black and white," meaning Bush sees the world in black and white simplicity and lacks the maturity of mind to recognize the complexity of issues, events, people, etc.

Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 04:04 AM by bush equals idiot
I just hope this does not backfire on all the great efforts. I just think "TWO FACED" is too sinister. The image is very strong on it's own. Adding a derogatory slogan, even though true, I feel will turn off the very people we're trying to bring to Kerry.

If the Republicans effectively turn this into a joke ...well, I said my two cents.

My suggestion would have been along the lines that would make whoever saw it think....well, maybe I'm not so sure until I hear more. Something like:

KNOW BUSH ...........................AFTER YOU VOTE

B4 YOU VOTE .........................IT'S TOO LATE

But I'll put em out.

I have no idea what the name of the flick is...

But R.Mitchum is a whacko and a preacher and he's trying to kill a couple of little kids (to get at a doll I think?)he's got love tatooed on one hand and hate on the other.

The base line is he's a psycho posing as a "man of God"

As soon as I saw the two faces image the other day on the DU home page, I immediately was reminded of that old movie!

56. If you don't know what a TWO-FACED person is then you just
don't realize thast there is nothing worse. A TWO-FACED person is a faker. A TWO-FACED person smiles in your face all the while they are screwing you.

the GOP created FLIP-FLOPPER and have inspired the right to hate Kerry.

TWO-FACED is way worse than FLIP-FLOPPER. People who do not understand anything else instinctively know what TWO-FACED is. Especially low income people. We have had huge success registering unlikely voters. Now we need to close the deal. Someone more skilled than us in marketing came up with TWO-FACED. We need to get behind it.
