Does The White House Own Google?
I say this as a person who until joining DU never much thought about the most popular search engine out there, but here's the rub. For the past several weeks, anytime I type in Kerry, I get pages and pages of negative, nasty news articles, editorials, websites and blogs. I get mainly the opposite when I type in Bush. This is the NEWS portion of the search engine.

1. anybody can google bomb sites
but I bet there are just a lot more negative Kerry articles out there than Bush. Because the GOP really does own and control the "liberal" media.

4. bingo
There are mini-google bombing wars being waged.
Type in "Miserable failure" and hit the "I'm feelin' lucky" button :P

2. Could be a reflection of the news media as a whole?
Google only reports whats out there. There's a lot of right wing crap out there, so that's what google has to choose from.

3. Interesting...
Wow, Well that makes me even more irritated. The contrast is so stark, I assumed it was pay for first page listing or something. I have vigilantly kept track for four weeks and it is frightening how absolutely negative the Kerry media coverage is. Don't bother comparing Teresa Heinz articles with Laura Bush.

6. I typed in "Kerry + war hero" for an image search
& I got mostly irreverent pictures: "Waffle House", Vietnam protests, etc. -- everything that I was not looking for. (As for Kerry's protests against the Vietnam war, that's what really won me over as a Kerry fan -- very impressive to me.)
