Betonpolitics gives Bush 5/1 or 1/5
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 12:13 PM by kerryin2004
advantage in the first debate.Hell I don't know, but if you bet 1 dollar on Kerry and he wins you get a 5 . They're talking like Kerry will be hurt by just showing up! I hope Kerry can hold his own in these debates, because no one else thinks he can.. Every site I have gone to has Bush heavily favored in the first debate...

2. opinon polling...
They use a couple of well known opinion polls, I think Gallup and Zogby to draw their conclusion..

3. Well, isn't that what we wanted?
Low expectation for Kerry? You can't get much lower that "5 to 1"!

Great!

4. They say Bush should have an overwhelming victory..
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 11:52 AM by kerryin2004
There analysis points to his never, ever losing a debate as the reason for the huge favorite.. Kerry is going to be a real underdog in this thing, I hope he can stay up with Bush..

10. Don't doubt the master debater that is Bush
He is a skilled and folksy debater.. Kerry is so professorial. Bush is able to speak a plain language, and he has never lost a debate.. Our expectations of Bush should be high, because he is so damn good. Stop underestimating him please!

11. please.....
he'll be up against Kerry.... :) Bush doesn't speak any "plain" language I understand. He's a bullsh*t artist.

Kerry should put him on the defensive, we'll see if Mr. Folksy can keep his cool. ;)

12. You ever see that SNL skit
called Lower Expectations?? Dont you think it is time for us to try our best to make sure that the expectations are so high that Bush's bumbling and stumbling answers aren't excused away as just," he did better then we thought so let us give him the benefit of the doubt?" The only way to do that is to make sure that we make everyone aware of all of Bush's debating success! We must prop up the shrub, because no one in the media is going to do that...

13. Bush's style appeals to simple minds
What he has is self-discipline to stick to a simple line of thought. His debates are low on substance high on simple base appeal.

6. Technically, that should be 1/5
With an odds-on favorite, the lower number is first. Just like Smarty Jones was 1/5, or whatever, in the Belmont, not 5/1. You bet 5 to win 1, not bet 1 to win 5.

Just a little pet peeve from a gambler.

8. Sorry, I will correct it.

Nt much of a gambler myself just saw that for every 1.00 you bet Kerry, if he wins you get 5, if you bet 5 on Bush, and he wins you only get one.

7. This is so bizarre; the man can barely read a speech off the
monitor and know next to nothing about anything and he is supposed to win against John Kerry. Good that puts Bush in the hot seat. We all need to call or e-mail all the networks and threaten to boycott their advertisers via the net if they do a partisan pro-Bush analysis. Also e-mail or call Gibson and Lehrer and ? and threaten them woth the same if they hold a "Lehrer-type moderator" again.

9. In addition if it does transpire, we must put the boycott into effect.
