"He's a sweater and women don't like sweaters" - Bushies on Kerry
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 02:02 PM by rmpalmer
Another good illustration on how childish the Bushies get. Wonder why the female Bush groupies haven't been turned off by their boys flop sweat? The pics I've seen of Kerry on the campaign trail show I haven't seen any sweat. I've seen many pics where's *'s shirt is soaked. Hope this backfires on them and *'s face breaks out! This article makes it seem as if Jordan was rolled by Baker on the debate logistics.

Even as Kerry was turning the tables on Weld over the death penalty, he kept wiping a dribble of perspiration that was creeping from his right temple to his eye. "He's a sweater," chortles a G.O.P. official, "and women don't like sweaters." That's why Bush's team was happy to have the Kerry campaign climb down from its demand that the debate hall be chilled to below 70 degrees. The Jordan-Baker agreement stipulates that the debate commission use "best efforts to maintain an appropriate temperature according to industry standards." Whatever those are.

21. it was gross
i remember the kerry edwards rally in north carolina or somewhere else soon after kerry picked edwards for vp. and it was very hot and both were sweating.

but it was nothing like bush was sweating on that day when his shirt was literally dripping wet. and this was in a cooler time also.

5. as an athlete, I can tell you
that a quick perspiration response is characteristic of a healthy, well-trained body (yeah, the horribly out-of-shape sweat a lot too). You see, the body has been trained to anticipate activity and stress, so it kicks in it's cooling mechanism more quickly.

What don't women like? Guys who try to take away choice, who send our husbands, fathers and sons (and increasingly girlfriends, mothers and daughters) into harm's way for a useless war, who completely f*ck up education, who reduce any kind of childcare appropriations, etc.

9. This is actually a weakness
Nixon in 1960 was hurt by how he looked haggard and sweaty. If Kerry's sweating profusely, that could negatively impact swing voters, even just subconsciously.

I know, maybe I'm just being paranoid. But I seriously worry that this will be a factor, and I don't know why the hell the Kerry camp relented on this one.

Surely there must be some punishment for their endless bs.

15. Sweaters have been a factor already this year
Didn't Wes Clark take some undeserved flak for his choice of sweaters during the primaries, especially New Hampshire?

I can't believe we overlook so many real world factors, like not sighing or sweating. In 2000 at debate number one, I remember the Bush team was upset at the camera angle until they looked at a monitor and noticed how it emphasized Gore's weird facial paint, so they gleefully left it alone.

like putting stuff on his face or something?

IMO Kerry really gave up a lot for these debates. But we need them to win.

Kerry should also wear a patriotic tie or a flag pin or something.

29. Bush looked like he was sweating
at the United Nations this week. Ignored by the media though. Script says Kerry sweats. There is no negative script about Bush, so the media ignores anything that doesn't fit. Kerry=bad; Bush=good. That's the script. We have to win, despite that. Thank god for internet and now, AirAmerica.

Being a woman, I would much prefer an intelligent, amusing, witty man (say, like John Kerry) to a bumbling, moronic, macho, idiot who I'd have to spend my life giving the Heimlich maneuver because he can't even eat a pretzel by himself.

Sweat! Yeah, right!

edited to add - besides most of us realize we are not electing him to sleep with, we're electing him to run the country which Shrubby is doing a piss poor job of. Sweat away, Johnny! I'll wipe your brow!
