3. I would have prefered to see the report that they scrapped
(AP) CBS News has shelved a "60 Minutes" report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be "inappropriate" to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday.

5. Exactly what I was thinking
I did not watch the Zarqawi report but I'm sure the guy came across as a dangerous man. CBS would rather air that then a critical view of U.S. reasons for going into Iraq.

4. Another fine Product from your CIA....
Went to go fight the Ruskies in Afghanistan with the Mujahadeen...Gee,who ELSE does that remind me of? CIA-equipped and trained, too, I'd bet...

Are we still bankrolling these minor "Freedom Fighters" thoughout the world, or have we finally learned our lesson?

14. They have a lot of gall, don't they?
Or as Arlo would have put it "a lot of god-dam gall"..I have read their "Manifest Destiny Manifesto". To just come out and outline a plan for Imperialism, and call it "defending American Interests in the New Century" is almost unbelievable.

But given that your average Murkan Sheep can't comprehend anything more complicated than a "King of the Hill" plot....They won't get it, especially if it's marketed as "Keeping you safe to SHOP..."

And it's no easier on those of us who are aware. "What whack-job web-site did you find THAT on?" is what I hear most the time....

7. Of course not. That is not allowed.

CBS will no doubt be fined for letting in the gray area remark as soon as the spawn of Powell hears of it. Off with their head, again.

10. disgusting, isn't it? Never thought I'd live to see the day
It was bad enough when they cow-towed to the goddamn cigarette companies.

But now they're cow-towing to the murdering fascists of the Bush administration.

We are fucked. It's the death of democracy, the beginning of the end, right there.

Nice knowing ya, America

15. If they didn't its just not credible

I'm going to watch for this. Bush let Zarquawi go three times. Early on when Ansar Al Islam set up their mountain base in NE Iraq on the border of Iran, they had just 200 fighters. The PUK asked the U.S. for air support, since the base weas under our no-fly zone and routinely flown over. The base was extremely difficult to attack through the mountains in Iraq.

Bush refused 3x to allow the attack, even though we knew how dangerous the group was, that Zarquawi was in the camp, and that they were suspected of Al Qaeda links. Bush refused because a month after the 3rd refusal, Powell went to the UN and said we had to invade Iraq because Saddam was "working hand in glove" with Al Qaeda through Ansar Al Islam out of his own country!

Now Ansar is responsible for over 700 deaths, Zarquawi is cutting off the heads of civilians, and bombing our soldiers. The Ansar movement has multiplied ten fold. All this, George Bush is responsible for because he needed an excuse to invade Iraq.

12. As a rule 60 minutes...
or anything else we get from mainstream corporate media is NOT to be trusted. The current state of affairs in USA is only possible because of corporate media complicity, going back many years, at least to when Westinghouse and GE took over two networks, and the CIA had interns at CNN, but they are all very very careful to spin just enough to ensure the politically naive, or apathetic (in other words, most of the population) will 'see' some semblance of fairness or even liberal bias. The real story of hostage taking in Iraq will not be televised in the USA.

17. Here's another thread with more details

I'm compling all the info in this thread, as well as ideas for 30 and 60 second commercial spots, and sound bites that we can use to hammer this point home.
