So SIck Of GWB Calling JK "My Opponent!!"
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 01:31 AM by K8-EEE
Seriously does this idiot even have a clue of who is running against him? I don't think I've ever heard him say "John Kerry" or "Senator Kerry," more Bush arrogance.

I am visualizing this: Bush is over. Bush is conceding. Bush is saying "I called to congratulate President Elect Kerry." Certainly he won't say "I called to congratulate My Opponent, good luck President Elect Opponent!"

BUSH...IS....OVER!!!

2. He had the same problem with stating Clinton's name
for quite a while. At least until it was convenient for him to say President Clinton thought Saddam had WMD too! He always said "My Predecessor".

Asshole! It always pissed me off!

8. Don't know if this is why or not, but....
I think he says the word "opponent" because for one, the word "opponent" has a sort of negative connotation. Also, it debases JK and reduces his candidacy. I think it has to do with "framing".....

9. Exactly -- I am the PRESIDENT (sic), trying to do my job...
and I have to put up with this nagging "opponent." As W has said, he would prefer a dictatorship.

11. He probably doesn't remember it.
He's forgotten most fo the reasons he has given to do his pre-palnned agenda. I doubt he can remeber anything.

12. Bush should be referring to Kerry as "my successor"
Given the mentality of the people allowed to attend one of Bush's rallies, they may not be aware of the name(s) of his opponent(s).
Bush probably figures there is no reason to mention Kerry by name, as people might start wondering who this Kerry guy is. Indeed, they might even begin to find Kerry more attractive than Bush as a president.

13. This Is Actually Pretty Common in Political Races
Although it's usually used at much, much lower levels. Like city council or something. When you're in a campaign running against someone and you don't want to give your opponent name recognition or free advertising... so you call them "the other guy", "my opponent", or something similar.
