Where was the press ?
As the coup took place by opportunity, moreso than plan, they did not see the danger within. As the new leaders adopted "Patriot Acts" and questioned the patriotism of anyone that dared to question their policies, the press sat idly by. As they pretended we were at war with the world, because a couple of dozen terrorists attacked NYC and Washington with civilian airplanes, everyone was called to action.

They cheerleaded as we preemptively invaded another sovereign country, under the pretense of WMDs, which evolved as an excuse to create "democracy" and to rid the people of that nation of their terrible dictator. They were loathe to criticize the new "leaders" for fear of losing their place in the line.

Now, as the leaders lie daily about circumstances and results of their misconceived policies, the press does not call them on it. They only report what they say, even though they know it is nothing but lies. They no longer accept responsibility for informing the people, only reporting what the government officials give them...

2. If we no longer have a free press do we have a democracy?
Isn't having freedom on speech one of the main tenets of our Constitution? Isn't this has Lenin got his start - spreading misinformation (aka lies) and then shutting down all press outlets except the ones who printed his propaganda?

6. wrong tense. Where IS the press? is more accurate
Simply e-mailing CNN, Faux, or MSNBC, not to mention the locals, really accomplishes little. This close to the election, the owners and operators are going to watch and see what happens in the election. If you want REAL news, real investigative journalism, you have to start it yourself.

These guys watch sales and ad revenue numbers rather than do real reporting.
