My first run in with a RW pinhead

I have had my truck plastered with bumper stickers for several weeks now. On my truck I have the following:

3 Kerry-Edwards stickers
Not rich enough for a tax break
Every kid left behind - vote dem 2004
Had enough lies yet? - vote dem 2004
Bush Knew
Bin Laden faily for Bush
Saudi Royals for Bush
Right wing pinheads for Bush...

I have come out of stores after shopping to find GREAT notes under my wipers....people come up to me when they can to ask where they can get some....I get thumbs ups when I'm driving, and It's been an all around pleasure to watch people's reactions.

Saturday I was sitting at a red light getting ready to turn onto hwy 217 here in Portland. I heard somebody lay on their horn, and it took me a second or two to realize he was honking at me. He pulled up beside me and I could see his "YES on measure 36" sticker (gay marraige ban amendment here in Oregon), so I knew right away that he was a hostile foe. He was yelling something out of his window, spitting uncontrollably as he yelled. His face was red, and I really thought he was going to pop a vein he was yelling so hard. I just smiled and waved at him like he was my best friend. This made him even more hostile. He stuck his arm out of the window and was shaking his fist....the more I waved, the more he shook his fist. bless his heart, he finally had to leave, and I could still see his fist sticking out of his window a block and a half down the road.

I am not sure if it was the "Bush Knew" sticker that set him off, or the "Right Wing Pinheads for Bush" sticker that set him off. I still have a "Mullet Wearing Morons for Bush" sticker at home. I think I will put it on and go looking for him again.

Portland is VERY liberal as everyone knows.....I was pleased to find someone that my efforts REALLY had an inpact on.

10. If you are ever in Lake Oswego on weekends...

The intersection beside the Heritage House on country Club is home to a guy that stands in the median with a big Kerry -Edwards sign. He smiles and waves at people when they drive by. I have seen him there before, and yesterday he seemed pretty happy. I was in a hurry yesterday, but the next time I see him I am going to go get him a good cup of coffee and thank him!

14. I always see some guy at Terwilliger and I-5

Just up the hill from the I-5 exit, on Terwilliger (heading towards Market of Choice). He always seems to be there on a sunny Sunday morning, waving his K/E sign with a big ole' grin on his face.

He always gets me smiling :)

I saw a BIG ass truck with Idaho plates (In West Hollywood, if you can imagine) with "Don't Be A Girly Man - Bush 04".

His ass couldn't get out of town any faster.

5. That's exactly what I did

during the Iraq war protests. I live in the other Portland, so mostly people were supportive, but there were a few guys who angrily yelled things and I would pretend not to understand what they were saying and smiled and waved and said "Hi!" in a happy, goofy, flaky way. It makes them even madder and makes other people laugh. It's not like people who are that angry are going to be reasoned with, anyway.

Well, you WERE right on one of the main arterials through the westside area of all those self-made persons who through dint of hard work and personal sacrifice now live in million-dollar McMansions. Or are they nouveau-riche arrivists who lucked out in an overheated real estate market? So hard to tell the difference anymore.

11. I had a similar experience the other day...

I live in Virginia and am one of 3 Democrats in all of Tidewater (just kidding, but some days it feels true). I have a Kerry/Edwards sticker and a Defend America/Defeat Bush sticker, and the other day coming home from work some guy sped past me on the left letting the bird fly and shouting something about "how to piss off a dumbass liberal..."

I just smiled and waved. This jerk cut me off and cut off the car next to me getting to the left lane. I think he intended to speed away but we were stuck in 3 miles of stop and go traffic (most of which I spent IN FRONT OF HIM!heheh)
