1. Tad's doing well today. Has Judy sputtering about the numbers.
It's great to see CNN/Gallup getting called on their propaganda.

4. Best line
After Dowd was saying no incumbent has lost after being over 50%. Tad came back and said by that logic Bush will lose because he is under 50% in 6-8 polls. I imagine those polls are Time and Gallup, two historical bad polls.

6. Right, that 54% approval rating is bizarre compared to other polls
CNN and that Bush flak are touting the 54% number like Bush's holy insurance policy. Then Tad Devine emphasized on Inside Politics that 6 of the 8 most recent polls have it below 50%.

Regardless, assuming the incumbent's popular vote percentage will mirror his approval rating is embracing a very short sample and ignoring uncharted territory. I don't think there is an example of someone in the low to mid-50s. The winners were close to 60% in approval rating and the losers mid-40s or worse. I think Bush 41 was 39% in '92.

8. Uh oh
Devine sounds like he was prepared and had the facts at his command, a sure-fire recipe for not getting called back. Well, at least he did good this time around.
