Some more incredible numbers from electoral-vote.com
Lost in this whole "Bush up by 1 in Georgia" hype is the amazing fact that the south as a whole is starting to tip to Kerry, much like the South tipped to Reagan in 1980, with the old fool just barely squeeking out wins in key states.

electoral-vote has Mississippi as WEAK BUSH.

mississippi

MISSISSIPPI!!!!!

If Kerry is really within 10 there then Bush might as well resign the office right now. North Carolina is also weak Bush, Kerry is down by only 5 according to the american research group. Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana have floated back in play so he'd better start running ads there.

1. Tough call...
Those are long shot states, so Kerry would be better off trying to focus on Florida and the Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin triangle. I think that a terrific effort in the south would result in 3-5 point losses in Georgia (the most recent poll is out of whack with earlier polls) and Louisiana, but those are still losses.

However, if he can get the Bush camp worried about the south, then they have to use some resources down there.

4. electoral-vote.com uses ALL the polls, which makes for a funky map
If they only tracked, say, Zogby or Gallup, that would make for a different situation entirely. Hmm, I might just send the webmaster a suggestion to have a poll filter option.
