In my county, people who signed up to be precinct captains are not even being called. There doesn't seem to be any literature available either. The grass roots people are doing great here but those who are in charge of the "official campaign" seem to be going for the glory and not the win.

1. Tell me about it. We have to do it in spite of the official party

2. Yeah, me too.
I was elected precinct chair at the caucuses but nobody from my states party has contacted me. I've tried contacting them, unsuccessfully.

5. Contact the county party.
PM me your locale information and I'll see if I can dig up some direct contact information for you.

3. I put my name down to volunteer here
twice but was never called either time. Though this is texas so I'm assuming the party isn't very focused here.

8. Our local party is overwhelmed with volunteers
And as someone else stated, the regulars are kind of swamped. Drop by their headquarters sometime and tell them you're there to work.

9. Where in Texas are you?

I can get you hooked into something somewhere, probably. :)

I have hear this a lot, there are so many calls going into the "official" party offices that a lot of times they just aren't able to return all of your calls. Just get hooked into the right campaign and/or website and you'll meet lots of activists that can teach you how to do this stuff.

4. There's a literature shortage all over.

Demand is higher than the national campaign and the national party can get covered. Because we have had to be so careful about keeping the "unity" message for things like signage and pamphlets, it's not like we can just run down to the local union print shop and run off a few thousand copies.

Make your own. There are tons of print ready pictures and documents on the web.
Here's a start: http://www.collegedems.com/war-room/flyers/

This stuff isn't cheap, and we need your help with things like this.

Further, we're in countdown. Not to sound harsh, but the party system has a process in place and we're overwhelmed with interest in general. Unfortunately, party chairs don't have the time and energy to hand-hold neophytes through the process. Take some initiative and run with it!

And if you don't like the way it's being handled locally, start showing up for meetings and run for the party chair. It's a tough job, but if you think you can do better, please try!

7. "Make your own"- excellent advice!
You have the correct attitude.

We need to stop waiting for "those Democrats" to do our work for us- we are the Democrats, dammit!!!

6. Do it yourself then.
And no, I am not joking.

If no one is doing the work, then you need to do it.

We need to stop talking about "THE Democrats" are start talking about "we democrats."

At the least,we know that from now on, WE need to be doing the work rather than counting on people who are not getting things done.

11. Same story here
calls are not returned, promises are not kept...important work is not getting done. It's very frustrating

grassroots is the only productive thing I see. Don't waste your time on them...get to work..lots of catching up to do :)

also, you can volunteer at the campaign office and put the space to good use...take over, do your own thing...download literature from the internet and print it out then make copies at the campaign office. Mobilize a team of people to register voters (deadline is monday)

Good luck to ya :)

12. Suggestion
Print out flyers, posters (there have been some great ones and their URL's given in some threads), and/or cartoons and post on bulletin boards in college/university classroom buildings.
