Don't get lulled into thinking Kerry's going to beat Bush in the debates!
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 04:26 PM by trumad
It sure looks like we have a bunch of cocky DU'ers who think that just because Kerry did well in the primary debates, he will do well against Bush. Remember, Bush has never lost a debate and when JK debates Dubya, he'll be debating a seasoned pro.

Let's not get to cocky.

4. Maureen "dud" Dowd I'm sure already has her post-debate op ed
penned. She won't say Kerry won or Bush was a moron, but she'll lambast Kerry for sighing too loudly and rolling his eyes when Bush answered a question.

5. Bush is a ruthless debater who destroyed Ann Richards
and used the format to connect directly with voters.

Bush should wipe the floor with Kerry.

9. If Kerry shares a stage with him and seems more human than
Frankenstein's monster, it will have to be considered a success.

Yeah, and unfortunately, that is the
criteria for voting for a candidate that most people have been focused on. Our friends in the media need to redefine the criteria: "After you have your beer with pResident Bush, are you ready to send to your kids off to die in an illegal and immoral war?"

6. There is going to be a debate?
Oh...you mean the joint press conference.

How can you beat "war on terra (smirk) war on terra (smirk) war on terra (smirk) war on terra (smirk) war on terra (smirk)......."

Bush has been practicing that for the last three years.

20. Absolutely.
After the debates, we don't stand a chance. Especially during the "town hall" forum, Bush's specialty.

13. What do you mean bu$h has never lost a debate?
Don't tell me with all the stammering, blundering blather he puts out you think he wins? Good God...He talks and acts like a complete basket case. NO way in hell that bastard beat Gore...the bu$h cheerleading talk show anchors and pundits TOLD us all he won,but I didn't drink that kool-aid and I never will. I can't see how anyone can think he's a good debater when he can't even string two sentences together without getting his words all twisted around. Here's an example out of thousands:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, it's
probably in Tennessee that says fool me once, shame on - shame on
you.
Fool me, you can't get fooled again." - George W. Bush, Sept. 17,
2002, Nashville, TN

...if Kerry isn't reduced to a whimpering fool by the razor-like wit and wisdom of Bush - he will surely take his life right there in front of God and Country, accepting the sweet release that death would bring.

14. Bush is actually a good debator. Anyone who can win a debate with
Ann Richards is someone to contend with. Also the press doesn't expect much from * so if he doesn't shit his pants on stage, he wins.

I'm actually concerned. This debate is KEY for Kerry, it doesn't matter as much to *.

because Kerry will tower over shrub, and people naturally tend to think of taller people as better leaders.

...just in case he throws up from nervousness, or starts hyperventilating and has to start breathing into it. If he does neither, then he's done a good job.

29. Psst. Over here.
(We're comedically trying to lower expectations for Kerry, the same way the Republicans did for Bushie in 2000. We're kidding around.)

AHEM--

Fie upon you, who do not know the oratory skill of Mr. Bush!
You will be crying with that bumbler Kerry on debate night forsooth!

25. Let's get one thing straight - these are NOT debates
They can't even ask each other questions, for God's sake.

It's just a farce.

Bush will memorize a set number of talking points, will concentrate on not smirking, will try correctly pronounce "terrorists" and will stop drinking the night before.

And all the networks will crown him King.

28. I fear for the children.
John Kerry is going to embarrass all of us when he goes up against that master of words George Bush--but mostly his own college educated children.

:(

Maybe Kerry can request that they bring along prepared statements, and that they not deviate from those statements?
