Bush hitting Colorado hard
I'm in Colorado Springs and Bush is hitting the airwaves here HARD. In the past few hours, I have seen/heard at least 5-7 Bush commercials on ABC. They are all the combination Bush/Members of Congress ads, so, I guess they are paid by the RNC?

Anyway, if Team Kerry has any hope at all of swinging this state, there's going to have to be some attention paid. So, come on Coloradoans! Let's get going!

1. The Kerry people have been hitting CO pretty hard too.
Not quite as hard but still. I have seen a number of Kerry's ads here.

3. How's it looking in Littleton?
I've heard that South Denver has a republican problem like us! We just got a young guy to register and he's moving to the Littleton area this week. Hope he doesn't fall into the "wrong crowd" up there!

15. I have seen a surprising amount of support for Kerry down here.
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 10:30 AM by coloradodem2004
A number of Kerry/Edwards signs and Salazar signs. There is sadly a stronger contingent of Bush supporters down here though. But if Kerry and Edwards are getting the support they are down here, Bush might just be in trouble.

Furthermore, I wonder if people in my district are getting sick of Tancredo. I heard that Joanna Conti is within the margin of error.

6. They should hit them with Bush's atrocious record ....
on the environment. That matters to people in Colorado. Here's the latest:

EPA Imposes Gag Rule on its Employees

The Bush administration is noted for its strict control of
"leaks" to the press and its discipline regarding perceived acts
of dissent.

Now, President Bush's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has
ordered its staff to "refrain from answering" questions from the
news media, according to an agency memo obtained by Public
Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). <1>

The gag order was issued by Bharat Marthur, the top EPA official
for the Midwestern region. In a memo to all regional staff,
Marthur forbids EPA staff from initiating contact with the press
or responding to any press queries. Even EPA's designated
spokespeople must now "report their conversations" with
reporters to the Office of Public Affairs.

Likewise, EPA staff in the Rocky Mountain region have been
ordered not to answer any "potentially political inquiry" from
the media.

"Don't take my gun" people as well as a huge military communities. There are many libertarian leaning people as well. A very strange mixture of people but hey! We have the Rockies!(mountains not team):7

2. That's okay.... Boulder County's got your back.
He won't set foot here.... All the hippy vibes would probably make him implode... and we ...shhhhh......

have a more motivated electorate.

Adams, Denver and Jeffco have really strong shows of support, too. And Peublo seems to be 100% kerry last I looked.

5. That's terrific!
Sometimes it gets difficult to separate living in "Focus on the Family" cult-area I live in to the reality of the rest of the state. Thanks for the reality check!

7. Pcat, I"m in Boulder county too.
Have you done any volunteering at the dem hq or anywhere else? I realize we're in a progressive little pocket of Colorado, but I think there's a good chance Kerry will win Colorado. Wouldn't that rock?!

8. I hope not.
Virginia will be real close. I met an older guy about 6 months ago, who I thought for sure was W supporter (because he's a land developer), but to my surprise, he was not. He said he though W was selling out our future with the big deficits.

13. he is a conservative,
bush is most certainly not a conservative.

this is the biggest selling point (for kerry) to republicans in Colorado....the mantra should be Bush is not a true conservative and has hijacked the party for his own ends that will destroy...i am surprised how many are simply not voting for bush because they cannot support Bush and can't support kerry either...

they want their party back.
