Kerry has slight lead in statewide poll - PA
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04271/386336.stm

President Bush and Sen. John Kerry remain virtually deadlocked in Pennsylvania, according to a new poll of likely voters.

Forty-nine percent favored Kerry while 47 percent favored Bush, a statistical deadlock given the error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points in a poll by Temple University and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

A majority of respondents in the poll released yesterday backed Kerry's positions on issues, with 81 percent viewing the rising federal budget deficit as a serious problem, 62 percent favoring the government doing more to restrict gun sales, and 53 percent opposed to making it harder for a woman to get an abortion.

Voters rated Bush as the stronger of the candidates, by 53 percent to 34 percent, and rated them more evenly on trustworthiness, with 45 percent for Bush and 41 percent for Kerry.
