Dosen't Sound Like Any Need To Watch The Debates....
1) No rebuttals.

2) Will not really even be any debate.

3) Kerry & Bush will each be asked questions & that is simply it.

4) If Bush even says anything wrong, Kerry can't comment on it and vice
versa.

That is no debate, why would Kerry even agree to such a thing, this is all to Bush's advantage.

2. We have 2 joint press conferences and a joint town hall meeting
The townhall meeting poses the most risks for Bush. These people will not be the drooling sychophants that attend the "Ask President Bush" sessions.

3. Kind of--this time their questions are screened.
Supposedly, it's to avoid duplicates.
Right.

4. It's to Kerry's advantage to have the debates at all.
Bush could have thrown a hissy fit and not had ANY debates, and then Kerry would be in trouble. It is to Kerry's advantage to have a debate of any sort, since Bush is always on television no matter what.

Sad.

Methinks Kerry was too cocky in thinking he'd be able to debate under such circumstances--especially when George Bush is the master of all debaters and public speakers.

6. Well, they really shouldn't be called debates
They're just joint appearances. The candidates should be in separate halls for all the interaction that will be allowed.

Someday, we'll field a candidate who will say, "Screw it. If I can't address this simpleton directly, and get the answers out of his lying carcass that the media whores are too chicken to pursue and that the public deserves, then I'm heading back to the hustings."

Did I hear this right- They get the questions ahead of time?
