15. Yeah, we should ignore it, that's right, ignore that which is bad for us.
I, unfortunately live in shrub-central. I'm surrounded, and hear this stuff ALL the time. I'm trying to convert neighbors, but am having a difficult time. Life is hard as a Kerryite in this area. Sometimes I wish to commisserate with you to help me keep my sanity.

3. A couple of points...
Republican officials called it the largest crowd of any Bush re-election campaign rally.

Country music singer Darryl Worley was the featured entertainment.

Last point that wasn't in the article. Kerry's been pulling major crowds his entire campaign and we hear nothing about it from the news.

38. the important thing to remember is that the repubs PREDICTED
the largest crowd ever and alerted the media. How did they know that 3 days ahead of time?

publicity stunt. Honestly. How many of those people were shipped in?

Yup, I'd endure a trip through the shrubbery for a free rifle. It would fill a major hole in my collection.

27. And a major hole in the wallet, FS
the '47 is fun, but man it chews thru ammo faster than a hungry woodchuck in a veggie garden. Even reload'n it costs a might....Now an Uzi, that 9mm stuff is cheap nowadays, what with the Koreans makin' it all for the Army and such.

30. AK ammo is CHEAP!
$90 for 1000 at the funshow. I can order and have it delivered for just $20 more per thousand. Hell, I mostly shoot an RBPrecision AR-15 flat-top with red-dot sight and a collapsable buttstock. I've been known to go through 400 rounds a day. That's why I keep 8000 rounds on hand for it. I buy in bulk and save. Getting an AK would really lower my ammo costs. My FN-FAL...now that is pricey to feed. YIKES!

35. 9mm cheaper here
$5.00 for 50 rounds, retail.

1000 rounds runs about $50-60 depending on store.

Personally, I like my .270 Savage bolt-action w/wide angle scope....why just spray lead when you can put it where it belongs at up to 500 yrds.

Besides deer season starts in 4 weeks, rather have steaks than lead-lined hamberger :D

20. It's nuts around here.
In Hamilton County, the repubs have all county-wide offices except 1 commission seat and the auditor. In Butler County, Warren County, and Clermont County, I think that they have every single county wide office. Elected offices include: 3 Commissioners, 1 Auditor, 1 Treasurer, 1 Sheriff, 1 Engineer, 1 Prosecutor, 1 Coroner. The City of Cincinnati is only a part of Hamilton County, it has more Dems than repubs.

18. Don't group me in with those inbreds
In the Northeast quadrant (Cleveland metro area, Akron, Canton, parts of Columbus, etc), we shake our heads with shame at those sister-bangin' idiots.

What galls me is that portion of the state has incredibly high unemployment, and the Bush Administration favors the very business practices that created that problem.

13. The Repukes phoned all of their registered voters
in the area to GIVE AWAY tickets to the event.

I happened to answer the phone call for my husband (yes, I'm married to one of them) and questioned the stupid women about WHY she supported Shrub. She gushed about the War in Iraq, said it was necessary and just, and was encouraged by how our economy is improving (honest, I couldn't make this up).

When I asked her about the lack of WMD she had no comment and after I reminded her about the 255,000 jobs lost in Ohio and the number of mortgage foreclosures, she mumbled something just before I hung up on her.

Go figure; how can they be so dumb?

14. Why don't they show a panaramic picture then
None of the pictures on the site show massive amounts of people the way several pictures of Kerry rallys do.

If it was such a massive crowd, wouldn't they want a good picture of that?

Do we have any news reports that tell of Republicans being bussed in, or are we just thinking that might be the case.

16. They're all Suthuhn AhighAh hicks.
Believe me, South of Columbus is overloaded with unread retard Heeyuck-Bob Republicans migrated from Kaintuck, West Verginny and InDieAnna. They're like the drunk uncle that comes to the family reunion and throws up in the punch. This is nothing to be askeered of.

Of course the Plain Squealer paraded this Bacchalania of the Backwoods on their cover, trumpeting it as "the largest campaign rally in the state", but from the article -

Southwest Ohio is the most intensely Republican area of the state, and Butler County GOP Executive Director Scott Owens said the goal was to make the West Chester event the largest in the nation so far this year.

Experts said it's a well-used technique: make the candidate appear wildly popular in a critical battleground state.

"It's one of the defining features of modern political life: You put together a big crowd. It looks like an expression of popular will," said Jeffrey Schnapp, curator of a Stanford University exhibit about crowds and their influence on public opinion.

Allan Winkler, distinguished professor of history at Miami University in Oxford, said the pictures will be shown repeatedly on cable television over the next 24 hours, reinforcing the image of Bush as a leader with mass appeal. "It's an old political tactic, and it has been used forever because it works," Winkler said.

But . . . doesn't Kerry/Edwards draw consistent 10-12 thousands even in Republican areas?

More wisdom from Der Fuhrer -

"It's been a little tough to prepare for the debate because he keeps changing positions. I think he could spend the 90 minutes debating himself," Bush said as the throng roared with laughter.

Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk . . . ooh, that's a knee-slapper, Lancelot Link. Kerry would bury your know-nothing ass under 850 feet of cement in a real debate, you failure.

Maybe the Maw 'n' Paw Kettle Cunvenshuns are mesmerized by your bullshit but the rest of the world would like to see you and your whole cabinet in a Federal prison.

19. Unfortunately
The smarter areas like Cincy and Dayton are overwhelemed by the mosquito-like Pro-* small towns surrounding them - thus the huge crowd number.

Then to the right you got Steubenville and that whole surrounding area . . . yeesh.

23. The heart of Ohio Republicanism...
I don't recall if the article noted it, but the schools in the area were closed yesterday afternoon because of the "traffic" and coincidentally to allow the troglodytes to bring their children to the rally. I guarantee you that at least 20-30% of the crowd wasn't old enough to vote and were there because their parents dragged them along. Other large groups were bussed in from Highland County (where any two-story building is still considered a tourist attraction). Don't sweat this.

34. Clifton is fun to visit, but I'd never live there,
due to the reasons I gave earlier. To provide the best environment for my daughter, I need good schools and a solid middle-class area. Unfortunately, these areas are largely populated by Republicans in the Cincy area. However, family always comes before politics. That's why I live where I do.

I'm the Democratic Ward Chairman. We have 49 precincts, some of which are heavily Democratic (not mine, obviously). We're a "battleground ward" because in 2000, Todd Portune and Al Gore actually won, and we're working like hell to make it happen again.

And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
