I don't think Bush will engage Kerry at all in the debate
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 10:39 PM by rumguy
He'll stay on his limited message and repeat his same old stock-phrases. Kerry can't directly address him - so how does Kerry win this thing?

Let's admit it - the media is already setting Kerry up to lose - all they've been doing is talking negative about Kerry. They're putting Kerry in a box - so they can label it afterwards. It fucking sucks.

19. "Bush On the Couch"
They should get the guy who wrote that. I read it, and it's basically a manual for inciting a nervous breakdown in Bush's fucked-up mind.

2. No he won't engage Kerry at all because the debates are set
up in a way that it will be impossible for either of them to engage each other.

3. actually I think this is a good thing for kerry. if he tried to take
on bush directly, the repugs will spin it that kerry is a bully, or that he is desperate. he should ignore bush and speak directly to the camera, unless bush tries that flip/flop stuff. then kerry should say that bush broke his word, bush will naturally have to denie it. then kerry would get his chance to explain the situation. kerry can take this one easy, just not get to over confident.

5. I agree.
Unfortunately, with no engagement between the two men, the debates are not going to be as exciting as they could be. This really cheats the voters.

6. I'm worried it's going to be boring
Kerry need contrasts - I liked the set up of the third debate in 2000 - when they could walk around and kind of interact with eachother...

8. yeah, I like that too.
I want to see Kerry get right up in Bush's face--and call him on what a liar and loser he has been as a president. I want to see him towering over Bush and shaking his finger in his face while he calls Bush on his Bull!

This way is not going to be as exciting and it is much "safer" for Bush. Kerry's surrogates should not have agreed to this. Baker is a slick negotiator, I would have had nothing to do with that slimy man.

16. but I have not
represented myself as anything other than what I am. I am an extremely honest person.

Sorry--you are going to have to get that sniffer fixed.

I am here at this site as a Democrat and a Kerry supporter. I have only dealt with the people at this site as friends and colleagues. I have no problems with anyone at this site or with honesty. This accusation is honestly coming out of the blue. I am going to sign out for a bit so that I do not lose my temper. I wish you nothing but the best.

He'd be honest.

11. Bush will be handled with kid gloves
by the media, just like always. These quote-unquote debates are tailor made for him because he can't handle himself without a script or an earpiece.

Still, I'm personally not too worried about Kerry. Every time I hear him speak I like him more. He's intelligent but doesn't come across as arrogant. He projects steadiness and quiet confidence. He doesn't sound like an automaton or a broken record. At the very least the debates will allow people to see and hear more of him, even with all of the ridiculous rules, constraints and artifice from the Bush camp.

17. Dumbya probably knows he does not need to "debate"
since the debate setup agreed by both parties is nothing
but a campaign commercial for each side, with NO DIRECT
questioning by either candidates to each other.
