2004 Texas State Republica Party Platform

my favorite . . .

Christian Nation - The Republican Party of Texas affirms that the United States of America is a Christian nation and the public acknowledgement of God is undeniable in our history. Our nation was founded on fundamental Judeo-Christian principles based on the Holy Bible. The party affirms freedom of religion, and rejects efforts of courts and secular activists who seek to remove and deny such a rich heritage from our public lives.

- much, much more . . . an terrifying look at our future if Kerry isn't elected . . .

1. Theocracy for America Yeah!
Actually, I'm against the death penalty, but I think all these theocrats should be lined up and shot. We'd be doing them a favor, right? Send them home to Jesus. (I'm not necessarily anti-religion, but I'm definitely anti-theocracy.)

2. Oh geez, here we go, back to the Middle Ages.
Scientific Theories – The Party supports the objective teaching and equal treatment of scientific strengths and weaknesses of all scientific theories, including Intelligent Design – as Texas law now requires but has yet to enforce. The Party believes theories of life origins and environmental theories should be taught only as theories not fact; that social studies and other curriculum should not be based on any one theory.

I HATE fundies, they will be the ruin of this country. They are SO fucking stupid.

3. Ever read "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood?
About a time not so far in the future when the religious right takes over the country.

It will scare you more than watching The Exorcist, The Shining, and Nightmare on Elm Street all in one sitting.

4. Let's start calling the Reps. "Republican Fundamentalists"
Let's just associate them with what they want: religious fundamentalism. That's really a fading demographic that we don't want, anyway.

So, let's start talking about the Republican party as being the fundamentalist party. Let's split them.

5. Unfortunately they have little opposition
The wimpy Democrats are secularists but don't stand up strongly for secular values -- which is REALLY what this country was founded on. The Democrats choose instead to walk on eggshells when dealing with religion and values. There is NOTHING anti-religon about secularism. The wall between church and state is integral to freedom of religion -- secularists deeply respect both.
