How Does One Become a Poll Watcher?
I am interested in serving as a poll watcher for the Kerry-Edwards campaign. In 2000 there were unconfirmed cases of voter intimidation at my local polling place.

Who would I contact about becoming a poll watcher and what are the usual requirements? Would I contact the local Kerry-Edwards office or the County Board of Election instead?

Since this would be my 1st time as a poll watcher, does anyone here have experience with this job and what exactly it entails? Any tips appreciated.

2. I'd like to know what number someone can call in Florida
if they see intimidation occur in the polling locations. Is there a webpage where we can find contact numbers for the various counties?

6. FL
FL is just the tip of the iceberg. Intimidation is going to take place in every swing state without a doubt. Probably all 50 states in fact. This is why we need K-E poll watchers at every polling booth.

I see lots of people here talking about canvassing and GOTV efforts now, but not as much talk about poll watching and other grassroots on Novembr 2nd itself. Our votes won't mean much if they are not counted correctly.

3. Poll watchers are not Poll Officers

The latter are county appointee's.

Poll watchers are almost always organized by political parties though I dont know if that is a legal requirement anywhere or everywhere. They are subject to certain laws and must follow the lawful instructions of poll workers and avoid interferring with the election. They are observors only.

COntact the local party office.

5. I did it in 2002 for jebbies "election" Call the local democratic party
you'll have to go to one night of training and they will give you phone numbers to call if anything goes wrong or you see anything suspicious.

8. If you have some computer knowledge
blackboxvoting.org is organizing an e-voting watch via a network of laptops(if you have one) that promises to be a novel new approach to the most dangerously unaccountable part of the election. They need about 2600 volunteers in those areas where the infamous machines are in place.

We also know in the intense spotlight(shone by blockheads who could not shape the word "fraud" in their minds) of 2000 that the vaunted GOP organization and turnout is not much compared to their implementation of "a little bit of this and that" in a host of shady, borderline and daring forms of disenfranchisement, enhancement and outright theft. So thoroughly ingrained are these unpunished methodologies in critical states, in tightly controlled states you can be sure every rock will have movement underneath.
