Why isn't Clark, Dean, Gephardt, Graham, and Kusinich , Braum
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 03:15 PM by vetwife
on the ground in the Battlegound states stumping? I mean holding rallies. Sure they didn't make the cut and don't flame me but it surely could pull in some voters. Especially during this down time.
Mrs. Edwards has been on the trail and this is for all of us. Forget Lieberman and Sharpton but this question is we are in the fight for our lives. Why are they not out there holding a lot of rallies? Especially in Battlegound states ! They swore they would do everything to get Kerry elected. Where are they? I love Dean and Kusinich and Clark but where are they? Especially Kucinich in Ohio? and Clark in Ak?

47. TODAY Clark was at the National Press Club
with George Soros..

Clark has campaigned with Edwards, Kerry, & has been all over the country.

There have been plenty of posts here about his activities. He has been working as hard as possible,& I really resent all the accusations without having the facts.

He has worked really hard in Alaska, South Dakota, & Oaklahoma for our Senate candidates, also.

45. Dean is working hard for LOTS of local candidates
He came down here to red, red Texas for a fundraiser dinner for Richard Morrison in Houston and then I was able to see him at a rally in Austin along with Morrison and David Van Os, Tx supreme court candidate.

Dean has had his boots on the ground to grow grassroots Dems. Check out www.democracyforamerica.com. He's doing the right thing. He is travelling HARD.

10. Kerry blew it
--he could have immediately incorporated all 8 other candidates into his administration in some capacity or other, which would have united all their supporters into one giant force for unseating Bush. It would have been a revolutionary coalition, but instead of revolutionary we got conventional.

a 1 month 12 city campaign. It was carried on CSPAN3 and there is a thread here somewhere. To be honest not a week goes by that he isn't helping a senate candidate or campaigning for Kerry or holding WESPAC events or speaking for the Kerry campaign on TV. He stays very active.

48. Yeah, we're very fortunate that way-- Dennis seems to like us
I think part of it was due to our primary showing (8 delegates and 1 alternate, 2nd best behind CO) and because we had/still have a very strong ground organization. As a matter of fact, most of us are sticking around in the party. We got two of our people on the state party board of directors, and have a number of CD and County Unit chairs, too.

We (and supporters from many other campaigns) have regrouped under the Minnesota Progressive Caucus banner (see my sig line), and we're continuing the work we started as Dennis's campaign. We've got supporters working all levels of campaigns this year, and we're looking forward to a good showing for MN. Also, the Progressive Caucus has allowed us to reach out to other progressive DFLers outside the campaign, who are just as supportive of progressive issues as we are.

Many of us have been getting ready for 2006, when our senior US Senator Mark Dayton will face a very tough re-election bid. Mark was an early Kerry supporter, but he's been very good with the local Kucitizens, and has come out as a strong proponent of Dennis's Iraq position. As a matter of fact, he gave one of the best speeches at our state convention this year, a speech which could have been lifted straight from Dennis! He even told the DK folk to "light a fire under Kerry", and keep pressing for an exit strategy from Iraq.

Back in 1988, I was loosely affiliated with the Rainbow Coalition, which was Jesse Jackson's group. I get similar vibes from this group, but this year we seem much more determined to keep things alive at the grassroots and continue fighting regardless of November 2. We're planning for the long-term, and not just the next election cycle.

Here's to keeping up the fight for peace, universal healthcare, fair trade, living wages and a sustainable economy-- regardless of what November 2 brings!

:toast:

25. Irrelevant
Yes Clark and Dean and some others have been doing appearances, but the Kerry campaign has not skillfully used them, and sent a loud, clear message to their supporters that they are a significant part of the "team"

For example, Dean should have replaced McAuliffe as soon as Kerry won the nomination or before the Convention. Can you imagine how fired up Dean supporters would be with their guy as "the face of the party."

Furthermore, Kerry, Edwards or both of them should have joint rallies with Clark. Clark had legions of followers that would be real excited right now.

Like everything else, it's not what you do, but how people perceive what you do. Right now the perception is the campaign is flailing, in part b/c of terrible use of surrogates, w/ Edwards being Exhibit A.

It's all in the marketing folks.

29. Terry at the DNC needs replacing for sure..And it is about marketing !
I hate to say it but it is the truth. This is old fashion Show Business with a mission. Kerry has found his voice no thanks to the DNC but he needs help now in getting that message to the voters. For the record, the DNC and Terry McCauliff would have done the same thing no matter who won. He is good at fundraising but this is about more than money !

26. Clark and Dean are out there...
I know that they aren't covered on tv when on the ground, you have to go to the local papers. Just like Edwards, although that sort of blackout is unacceptable. Cheney doesn't get blacked out, we always know where he is whether or not we want to. :eyes:

Clark especially has been working his ass off for Kerry since literally days after he droppped out. Trust me, we Clarkies follow his every move like a bunch of fucking groupies, lol. He recently had a little live chat with us and said he's out there for Kerry about 3 or 4 days out of the week, every week.

I'd like to see Dean on TV more than on the ground, honestly. He's such a great attack dog for Kerry and the media love to have him on because they never know what he's going to say!

how many others don't know? Because not everyone has internet access and if the papers and media are shutting them out, how many show up for the rallies? Not everyday people. The choir. We have to figure a way to find their schedules and put the word out ! I am in Georgia and like totally in the dark ! Kucinich in Cleveland yesterday . . .
http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1096363811102442.xml

With only a week left to register voters for November's presidential election, speakers at a rally in Cleveland Monday emphasized the basics.

Voting isn't an esoteric exercise, but a matter of whether people have a bed to sleep in, food to eat and medicine to take, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich said.

He urged the more than 300 people at Cuyahoga Community College's Metropolitan campus to not only vote, but also encourage others to do likewise.

"If you can't knock on doors, make phone calls. If you can't make phone calls, put the word out on the street," he said.

"And if you can't do that, you might wind up on the street."
