Top 10 reasons to boycott the "debates"
Top 10 Reasons I'm not going to watch the phoney "debates" :puke:

10) It's bullshit and the deck's stacked against Kerry anyway
(Christ; James Baker vs. Vernon Jordan to negotiate
the "rules" -- no contest).

9) One of two things is going to happen:
A) Kerry fucks up
B) Kerry doesn't fuck up

8) In either case, it's going to be free tv time for bush

7) The media is going to spin it against Kerry anyway.

6) The "undecideds" watching will like bush no matter what drivel drools out of his mouth.

5) The "undecideds" will either like or not like Kerry but it won't matter because of #7

4) The facts are irrelevant - that's very frustrating...

3) I don't need the aggravation of seeing the chimp spout his endless stream of nasty lies.

2) I hate "reality TV"...

1) But mainly because I would love to see their Neilsen share go into the toilet. Then the networks might get someone to put on real debates instead. If only to keep their ratings up and their profits obscene. :boring:

1. I will go out
I rather spend my time in collecting clothes for the children in Iraq, have a lot to do, the only day off will be to vote against bush and to go out.

2. bu$hit could sh*t himself up there and say nothing but...
..."duuhhhh-uhhh", then drool all over himself and Kerry, and the media would declare that he's brilliant and he 'won' the debates.

I won't be watching any of them, unless it's on C-SPAN. Otherwise, forget it.

I'm certain Kerry will mop the floor with that Weaselly Little Man and I'm equally certain the media will talk about his 'tan' or his tie whilst simultaneously ignoring bu$hit streaming one big lie and junkyard dog insult after another. That's what Republicans like.

The media - they're about as useful as shit on a pump handle. I hate them with a passion. THEY are the #1 problem and the #1 enemy. bu$hit is #2 right behind them. The media are bu$hit's enablers. Without them, he's toast.

5. I'm undecided . . .
about watching the debates, that is . . . for the past two years, I've managed to not watch or listen to Bush on tv or radio . . .I'm not sure I want to break that string, and I KNOW I can't stand listening to the little weasel . . . still, curiosity may win out . . . depends on how I feel on Thursday, I guess . . .

7. I'm not watching
it's rigged against Kerry and no matter what they will declare chimp the winner. Also I can't stand to see that smirking idiot pResident for an hour or so, I would end up :puke: my brains out.

I'm making sure I will not be home so I won't even be tempted to turn it on. I will record it just in case by some miracle the media declares chimp the big loser but if they don't I'll just tape over it.

8. Top 1 Reason Why I'm Going to Watch the Debates
1) Because it does no good to purposely remain ignorant. No matter what happens in the debates, if I watch them, I will be able to write informed letters to the editor and have intelligent discussions with other voters about what happened.

9. You're wrong! Playing ostrich helps no one!
It's going to take several beers for me to be able to stand Shrub on TV for 90 minutes, but it's important for all of us to see for ourselves what happens. If you hide, you'll be like the freepers who gat their info from a second source!

Suffer with me! Just watch it!

11. I will watch and make LIBERAL use of the mute button.
Or just turn it down when *'s on, in case he falls on his face.
Watching the debate is one thing, watching the pundits another; we KNOW that if Bush stammers his way through it, the press will praise his plainspokenness. We KNOW if he falls down, the press will try to convince us how valiently he fought to remain standing.

12. Ya couldn't tie me down and make me watch such crap
with ground rules like this. The term debate is a hilarious misnomer. But I will be listening carefully to see how it is spun.

At some point SOME of the media mavens are going to have to both give Kerry SOME credit and hold GWB accountable for this disastrous war and incompetent presidency. Sometime? Don't they?

Otherwise we are in for a steep climb against the wind in the next 5 weeks.

13. I think we should watch and then turn off no spin
make up our own minds on how they did. It is important especially if you are out on the campaign trail to know what happened in the debates. If you only hear sound bites later what if you get asked a specific question regarding something they said.

We have to be informed to continue our fight to the finish.

17. boycott
Boycotts only work when people are paying attention. May as well watch the darn thing so you know what your coworkers are talking about.

20. I think how Kerry does
is the only thing that really matters.

We know the bush lies already and he doesn't have the intelligence or imagination to veer off from his prepared bullshit. He's a crude, clever politician (in the worse sense of the word) and that's why he's so hard to fight. He has no moral scruples, shame or conscience -- perfect for a right-wing revolutionary.

Maybe we could find an edited version that only has Kerry's voice?

19. I just don't know
I keep thinking that if I watched;

Either Kerry will mess up - in which case I'll be a basket case or Kerry will do great, bush will look like the asshole he is and the media will spin it out of control -- in which case I'll be a basket case.

I still don't see an upside to watching since the only thing that will count as far as the election is concerened is how the mass media plays it. I'm not sanguine about that..

Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful comments though. It's nice not to be alone in this...

21. 2 reasons to watch...
2.) As someone else stated, "know thine enemy" - it's necessary to find how the repugnicans are going to spin Bush's failures.

1.) I've "boycotted" the last 15 superbowls and I've had to hear about how fascinating the 1/2 time show was the next day. This past superbowl, I missed seeing some skin.

22. these are not actually "debates"...
they are totally scripted and planned -- a guy was on Lou Dobbs tonight from http://www.opendebates.org and listening to him made me even more sad - please go to that website and see what the "debates" really are.

23. I am watching
I personally like facing my enemy's.every time Chimp is on i watch him lie, deceive and spin his policy's and i can do that because i am informed. Its kind of empowering facing what you despise most at least for me.It bothers me the way our corporate media does the same thing but i watch the same way.

24. I'll be watching on C-SPAN
C-SPAN shows programs with no spin, no commentary at all, which is as it should be. I may listen to coverage on Air America in the background unless it becomes too distracting. I want to see and hear them for myself instead of just hearing the unavoidable second hand accounts over and over later.
