Wow. CBS blew it on that story about campaign ads by 527s
A tearful mother of a slain soldier, stating a fact: "No Saddam-9/11 connection, Mr. Bush."

A montage of terrorists' faces with an ominous voice-over: "Kerry can't be trusted to protect us."

And CBS calls them both "attack ads" that mark a "new low."

Jeez. So glad the war on "relativism" has been won. Fact, opinion, truth, conjecture -- it's all the same.

1. I was thinking the same thing
A wife being distraught over the loss of her husband in this war of choice is on the same low as a commercial saying Kerry won't stand up to terrorists? Uh, what?

4. I think the military vote is going to get angry that there is so little
disregard for a dead serviceman's mother. Sheesh. She's not an actor. She's the real thing.

6. Was she a widow? I thought it was her son who died.
In any event, she is someone grieving a loss. And for voicing her grief and stating a truth, according to this ridiculous report, she's bringing the presidential campaign to a "new low." Unbelievable. :(

2. Saw that
They have to bring it all down to they both do it when it's anything but. Their is no differentiation between negativity that is true and that which is a lie.

7. Everything has to be balanced, you see.
The media lack the guts to use their judgment, so they pretend everything is balanced. If Bush said the world was flat, and Kerry said the world was round, the media would report, with a straight face, that Kerry and Bush disagree on the shape of the world. They might throw in some support for Kerry's side by quoting an astrophysicist, but they would also find someone, a theologian, a crackpot scientist, someone to quote in support of Bush as well.

The fact that the journalist him or herself knows the truth wouldn't matter -- their job is to be strictly impartial and "balanced." To their credit, the Republicans have figured this out and use it to their advantage, and of course, it was decades of conservative attacks on the media that turned their collective spine to warmed up jelly in the first place.

Our media are utterly and completely paralyzed by fear, and we're all suffering for it. You have to go back to the days yellow journalism, to William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer using their newspapers to get us into the Spanish-American War, to find the American media this utterly corruptible.
