I think we have the matchup we want. I look for Edwards to prove criminal wrong-doing.

11. Of course it will
And Repubs across the country will be cowering in the corner as Edwards slices and dices the Prince of Darkness.

4. ah yes, but...
what are the rules the dems agreed to in the VP debates?
is there cross-examination allowed? can Edwards put CHeney under oath (might make a good joke, whipping out a bible and asking cheney to swear on it, just to "help him practice...."

damn. sometimes i'm so mean i can't stand myself.

7. What is Edwards' military background?
I mean, besides having a deferment like Cheney? (I know... not everyone can get 5).
But how does he counter the "you're not ready to be CiC" schtick?

15. He was born in 1953
so he would have been eligible in 1971. I am sure I read somewhere he did get one to go to college.

18. question
Where did you hear that, Rush Limbaugh? Because Limbaugh has been the only one consistently parroting the Edwards/Vietnam question. Not even Hannity will touch it because it's been thoroughly debunked.

I should remind you that Rush dodged the draft in VN though. He had a boil on his ass. That was Rush's excuse! A boil on his ass. Geez you'd think the Coast Guard at least would've taken him.

Edwards got zero deferments. None. Simple as that. And he was not eligible for the draft until 1973, not '71. No draft orders were issued after '72. Brush up on your VN history. By that time Nixon was rapidly pulling troops out of VN (Vietnamization), not sending new ones in.

"Edwards, who was born on June 10, 1953, did not face the possibility of being drafted until 1973, the same year the military draft ended. As the official website of the Selective Service System documents, a 1972 draft lottery "determined the order in which men born in 1953 were called to report for induction into the military." The SSS also notes that the 1972 "lottery was conducted for men who would have been called in 1973; however, no new draft orders were issued after 1972." As the Associated Press reported on October 26, 2003: "Edwards was assigned No. 178 for 1973, but the draft ended that year before his number was called."

19. Ah, but you're forgetting how the lottery works
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 12:04 AM by jpgray
Those born in '53 were eligible for the '72 lottery, which would have drafted soldiers for service in 1973. The draft ended on July 1, 1973, so Edwards just missed getting called up, as I said. I believe the '72 lottery restuled in about 600 citizens being drafted before it was stopped.

10. NT
The repukes are deathly afraid of Edwards. This is why the GOP controlled media has tried so hard to keep him off the airwaves. He's too telegenic. He's got the style AND the substance. In the primaries he was pulling 25%-30%+ of his support from Independents and Repukes.

If Kerry wins the election, it's because of Edwards. If he loses, it's because the media succeeded in keeping Edwards out of the spotlight. Simple as that.

14. This is a recapitulation of Edwards legal career.
Bloated, corporate, corrupt fat cat vs. the little guy represented by "the natural", John Edwards, next VP of the USA. All he has to do is use his considerable intellect, progressive Piedmont populism, and that smile he gives when he slam dunk's clowns like Cheney. AMF Dickster!
