Does the Kerry campaign even see that the media is a problem?

1. yeah, Kerry himself has spoken about it
and that's why they are going around the country and campaigning directly to the people instead of sitting around hoping chris matthews is fair to him as some on du do.

he knows he can't depend on the big media.

2. I think the way they campaign by going to the people is one way they
try to counter this and going on talk shows. I don't know if they can do anything, It's up to us. Boycott advertisers.

4. No, they're blind and stupid.

Seriously, ask not what the campaign can do for you - ask what you can do for the campaign. This is a full-blown resistance here, and freedom fighters are needed to jam the media. You up to the task?

6. Well put - "full blown resistance" - the only way to deal with the media
When are Democrats going to wake up and realize we aren't guaranteed any fairness or kindness from the powers that be ? The media is NOT some sort of fair minded arbitor of truth -- never was and never will be. The only way to get the media on our side is to fight. The media is as big a part of the fight as any other in modern campaigns.

16. I write emails and letters and will vote against
any Democrat who does understand the need to stand up for our beliefs, reform the system, fight tough campaigns, and master the media game.

I will support any left leaning organizations/think thanks/PACs who are serious advocates for toughening up the party.

In addition, I refuse to "make nice" with anyone who is willing to support Bush and his agenda. I make it clear I strongly oppose their support for Bush and refuse to associate with them if they continue. These are like the last days before the Nazi takeover of Germany. Passive resistance begins at home and begins now.

5. I ask myself that question every day
I doubt softballers like Cahill and Shrum are even aware of the damaging memes which have taken hold in the mainstream culture. Their game plan consists of sending Tad Devine out there and "W is for wrong".

10. Shrum is a one man disaster.
One of the more savvy Repubs that I debate on another forum has openly wondered at how incompetent he Shrum team appears.

How can I debate THAT?

13. You don't amass an 0-for-7 record in presidential campaigns for nothing
Shrum may be good at beating Democrats and moderate Repubs, but the man has never shown he can beat the national GOP.

Shrum only gained so much power within the Kerry camp because he was instrumental Kerry's defeat of Weld in '96 and Dean in the primaries. Kerry feels comfortable with him.

Unfortunately for us Shrum is still an 0-7 loser.

Clinton won by fighting tough and smart. Democratic heavyweights like Carville must simply sit back and wonder what the hell is going on with this campaign.

11. Are Americans REALLY looking for a president to have a beer with?
Has it really come down to that?...This seems to be the message I'm getting from the so-called pundits on CNN and other stations....I refuse to believe that the American public does not realize that their president is more than a drinking partner!....If this is the case, then the U.S.A is in more of a mess than I thought possible!

14. The Media is a big part of the problem however....

I think we lack real hard-ass spokespeople who will call the pundits and "tube journalists" on their lies. We need folks who are comfortable in confronting the tone as well as the content. As much as I love James Carville, his type of confrontation just doesn't play well to the vast and vapid TV audience. He comes off as too much of a cartoon character. Ted Devine is doing better-but still can't call these Tubies on their lies.

Joe Lockhart is probably one of the best we got now
