Unbelievable John Kerry Interview on ABC Good Morning America
Without a doubt best interview I've ever seen Kerry give. I'm still kinda in shock.

Diane Sawyer was attacking him with all the RNC talking points. They might as well have had Ed Gillespie doing the interview. But Kerry shot back twice as hard.

He was relaxed, short and to the point and got all of his talking points in. Sawyer showed pics of him windsurfing and skiing, and said they were fancy sports, then showed a pic of Bush in a cowboy hat clearing brush. Kerry said he's not trying to be someone that he isn't, and said that instead of clearing brush, Bush should've been trying to clear up the country's problems. He got in jabs at Bush's one liners and taking things out of context.

If Kerry maintains this demeanor during the debates, we've got nuthin' to worry about.

be anything but stellar..course, I just started listening to him from the Convention onward but he thinks on his feet and I like the sound of his voice which seems to hold some priority with me.

I like your little "two faced" vignette, dude or dudette.:)

He looked unusually good. Very energetic and rested.

Karl Rove might just have to stop payment on Sawyer's check. If the interview was meant to throw JK off track, it failed miserably.

4. I don't feel it was his best or even good
Sawyer did alot to make him come off wishy washy ( sawyer kept shifting her eyes left and right and had a look of disdain on her face when Kerry was explain Iraq) and tried to humiliate him with his wind surfing pictures compared to shrub's fake cutting wood pics. It was not necessary and was only done to throw Kerry off and prop up shrub.

BTW, where was Kerry's so called "orange face" that Sludge and Tweety want to speak about yesterday....nitwits!

7. sorry but
Sawyer came out looking like an asshole, and an incredibly superficial one at that. Her little eye gestures and the pics comparison backfired big time. She attempted to throw him off track and it failed.

JK's answers were short, to the point and on message.

I guess now you want him to revert to the 10-sentence answers?

Amazing how, after months of pleading and begging for him to use talking points and jabs, when he finally does, someone has to complain.

14. Well, what she did is
Identical to what every other talking head has done to Kerry. Kerry once again took the high road rather then slam her gestures and words back in her own face. His message is detailed and accurate but in this day and age of quick sound bites and a corporate media heavily soaked in repuke talking points, he didn't come off as well as I would have liked. What was needed from the very beginning was to show the media as the echo chamber for shrub. Kerry needed to let loose on these people and tell them directly to their face about their bias and lack of reporting of the facts.

22. While we would all LOVE to hear such flamables, JK has a wider audience
in mind. To insult (maybe rightly so) Sawyer in that forum and cause a "controversy" would absolutely not serve him well. Do you really think that would endear him to viewers of GMA? Sounds like his appearance was dead-on -- firm, commanding, clear, substantive, presidential!

This is the tact his campaign has taken so far and looking at all the problems he has had getting his message out, beating back nonsense issues, I think it's way past the time to try something new.

This high road position has failed him miserably to date!

16. I have to agree with you, AmerDem
Sawyer was very demonstrative during the interview, with eye rolling and tut-tutting. It was clear what we were supposed to think of Kerry's answers.

Kerry was very assertive when she tried to put words in his mouth, correcting her strongly, but she got the digs in and that was her purpose.

Sawyer twisted herself in a pretzel shape to make Kerry look bad, and Kerry handled her well, but the whole interview was about Sawyer v. Kerry and he didn't get his sharp, simple talking points out there.

Kerry's attempt was good, but Sawyer made sure his answers were dismissed by her questions and her body language.

But jeez, folks, just because someone disagrees with you, or sees the same thing differently doesn't mean we're the enemy.

And, frankly, it's more likely to be decided by the people watching GMA than it is people watching the debates. Trust me, more folks are watching GMA.

I haven't watched GMA for 2 years because of their right wing bs, but I tuned in this morning just to watch Kerry's interview. I posted my observations. I did NOT attack John Kerry. I posted what I saw.

That doesn't make me the enemy.

Sorry you missed this one, but there will be another segment tomorrow. They are going to talk about taxes, "possibility of a nuclear 9/11" and what music he might listen to on the way to the debates. Be prepared: Diane is scraping the bottom of the smarm barrel with her snide facial expressions. Don Henley must have had her in mind when he wrote, "Dirty Laundry."

God. The Little Weaselly Man (W) never HAD a ranch and the City of Crawford didn't even exist until he decided (rather abruptly so) to run for President. Talk about FANCY. That's some FANCY propoganda, isn't it?
Kerry never had an entire city created just for his image...

So Kerry windsurf and skiis - big f*cking deal. So do a lot of people. So Kerry has to be a pretentious Crawford REDNECK like bu$h to be 'acceptable' to people - is that what Sawyer was trying to point out?

It's a good thing I didn't see it. I would have tossed something at the television.

of time and money to make bush* into a downhome, southern cowboy who bettered himself and the freeper types eat that shit up, but Clinton was ACTUALLY all of that (except the cowboy part) and they hated and still hate him with all they're worth. Why's that?

Why do southerners(and those that seem to identify with a "southern" lifestyle) support a faux-"southern" repuke idiot, but pissed all over a REAL southerner, Rhode Scholar Democrat?

On second thought, please no one answer those questions, I fear my guesses will be confirmed.

I know what you're thinking, and you're exactly right--it's not very big, especially for what Bush Senior uses it for, which is offshore fishing. If there's anyone in America who NEEDS a 55-foot sportfisher, it's Bush Senior.

Most important, he let Sawyer know that he'd bitchslap her if he had to.

43. Diane Sawyer was her usual awful nitwit self asking trivial questions
She was all about image- once again trying hard to reinforce the negative stereotypes about him instead of concentrating on the important issues facing the country in this election. She was disgusting to watch but I loved how he was so pleasant, humble, direct and not overly defensive over her ridiculous questions. He was great in quickly commenting about her pic of GWB cutting brush on the ranch that instead of cutting brush, GWB needed to clear up the problems of this country. He was very good about turning the interview back to the main issues.

He looked great, his eyes very bright and pleasant and there was no obvious tan even though the interview was just conducted yesterday. Those in the media who have been trying to ridicule him over the so-called tan have been conveniently ignoring how normal he looks in this interview (which was partially shown last night on ABC news).

46. I saw the whole segment
and Kerry I thought looked great. Told her not to twist his words, told him that they should talk to the regular guys he windsurfs with, carpenters and electricians. About the * clearing brush, said that he was not going to "fake" things and maybe the American people would rather have * "Clearing things up for Americans". The media as we know are shills for the WH, kept trying to put words in his mouth, he wouldn't let her. I like the part about no foreign diplomat will say what he will do with a new adminstration while a sitting president is in office.

51. It just aired here in Phoenix.
What a wicked hag! Too bad the trick lens she uses to try and hide her wrinkles does nothing to soften her demeanor. Technology can only go so far. I haven't watched GMA in years, and diane remined me why in less than a minute. I thought Kerry did great.

70. Yeah ... pull that cheesecloth off the lens, Diane!
I always feel like I need a new perscription for my glasses when I look at her camera shots ... then I realize that filmy, twinkly atmosphere is the filter!

Same here. It's all so disgusting and obvious that the media is bush*'s own private PR firm. :argh:

58. What made it even worse for me...
was that before the interview, they went to Terry Moran at the White House (or was it the ranch? I think the ranch), and he was talking about how pleased and confident and happy the Bush team is.

On top of that, they mentioned Bush's recent rally of cheering 50,000 supporters. 50,000? (When do they *ever* mention Kerry's cheering crowds??) And talked about B/C's firm, enthusiastic base and how the B/C team is hoping to woo away the softer base of Kerry.

if they haven't already.

55. Thanks for the update.

I got to record at watch it here on the West Coast
and I thought he was great.

One thing I noticed on the picture of him windsurfing
is how muscular his arms are. The picture made him
look virile and masculine. (Kind of like the hockey
video did.)

71. Face it.....
We have another "Gore in earth tones" situation going on. The media is poised to focus on the flip flopping thing. They are so much more concerned about wether or not THAT is true than bringing up the REAL issues. Kerry is going to have to work extra hard to overcome that.

80. F Sawyer. F them all.
"Sawyer showed pics of him windsurfing and skiing, and said they were fancy sports."

If this doesn't prove that Kerry can do no right in the eyes of the media I don't know what will. The wrong kind of f*ckn sports? Jesus F. Christ. If it were Bush, Sawyer would be drooling all over him praising his "manly" athletic abilities.
