POLL suggests tide is turning on Chimp! Are people waking up?!
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 09:33 AM by jefferson_dem
From Zogby (actual field dates 9-3 through 9-7):

60% of Young Male Voters Say War in Iraq, “Not the Right Decision”; 59% Say President Bush Misled America and Executive Branch- Highly Responsible for the Problems that US faces Today, New Zogby/Williams Identity Poll Reveals

Most political pundits believe that the final month of the 2004 presidential campaign will center around the war in Iraq. If so, then young men are likely to cast a vote of “no confidence” in George W. Bush. These are the findings of a new Zogby/Williams Identity poll conducted by Zogby Interactive from September 3 through September 7, 2004. The interactive survey was conducted online among 850 males between the ages of eighteen and thirty years old.

The survey reveals that 60 percent disagree with the statement that George W. Bush made the right decision to go war with Iraq. (Only 40 percent think Bush made the correct decision.) These attitudes remain firmly held when other aspects of the war are probed. For example, 63 percent disagree with the claim that Bush made the right decision to go to war, even if the intelligence data were flawed. Strong opposition to the war among the nation’s young men has created a crisis of confidence in the president’s leadership: 59 percent believe President Bush misled the American people from the beginning about the need to go to war with Iraq.

3. Tide has turned with media finally focusing more on Iraq debacle
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 09:54 AM by wishlist
Ever since the front page headlines featured the 1,000 casualty milestone earlier this month, all of the media seems to now be focusing more on the deteriorating Iraq situation. Most of the pundits agree that John Kerry came out strong last week in his attacks on Bush over Iraq. I heard that the main topic for tomorrow's debate is Iraq because at the time the debate was agreed on, Bushco thought he had the edge on that issue. However, he is now vulnerable because of media focus on the pessimistic internal govt reports and escalating violence there. Plus all the stories about disgrunted National Guard and problems with enlistments.

All the other news is bad for Bushco too, from the high gas prices to the high health care costs to more layoffs and poor consumer confidence.

6. MSNBC did a great little report this morning---about time---
they went to a reporter at the White House. Reporter started off by talking about the Crawford paper endorsing Kerry and told the reasons they listed (raiding SS, etc.). Showed a clip of an uneasy McClellan trying to handle the news and saying he still thought Texas would vote for Bush, blah, blah, Then reporter went on to the debates and made a comment that Bush has to be worried about latest polls that show people again being concerned about Iraq, saying it was wrong to go, saying disapprove of his handling, etc. I was astonished!!! But maybe they smell something turning. (Of course the ticker kept spewing that Bush had a 'solid' lead--)
