I'm terrified of tomorrow.
Bush is the greatest public speaker since Cicero. Who here is scared he's gonna tear our guy a new one?

1. I'm not
The trick is to get * off script. If Kerry can do that, * is toast. We all know that every time * tries to adlib an answer, he screws up.

4. That's what you think...
...because you must not be intelligent enough (after all, you're probably a librul) to understand Bush's deep meaning and nuanced inflections when he ad libs.

14. But How?
How can Kerry get him off script if the format does not allow them to speak directly with each other????

I wish that there was a way.

3. False premise
If Bush is not the greatest speaker since Cicero, which he most assuredly isn't, how can anyone be afraid he will "tear Kerry a new one"?

6. I agree
He's not the greatest speaker since Cicero, but he's surely the greatest mind since Da Vinci. Which still makes him a damn good speaker.

9. Two thousand years from now, scholars will be studying Bush's rhetorical
style. City founders will name suburbs of Chicago after him. Bushboy, Illinois.

homes for National Guardsmen who have gone missing for over a year and are under house arrest.

12. "Greatest Mind since Da Vinci"
Sometimes the totally absurd is quite funny. I had a real belly laugh over this statement.

19. Why "absurd"?
You don't think Da Vinci was a slightly greater mind? Do you object that I didn't say "the greatest mind since Socrates"?

I mean, I don't know -- I guess there are things in which Bush's mind shines brighter than Da Vinci's. When you get to that level, it's hard to compare... But I do take offense that you called my assessment "absurd". Da Vinci may not have been a greater mind than Bush, but I don't think it's "absurd" to think that.

5. Off the bat, Kerry should say
Bush's entire campaign is predicated upon not issues or the future, but Kerry's Iraq stance. Then * will look silly for the next 89 minutes.

10. You know, I wasn't afraid until the Repub. Convention.
My husband and I thought that his speech was mediocre. It was just a recycled version of all of his other speeches. Then came the pundits and, all of a sudden, it was the greatest speech ever. He was perfect, magnificent, stupendous!!

I don't think I can watch.

24. I'm not terrified of Bush, rather it's the media spin that
will "gore" Kerry. Kerry has to hit it out of the park and Bush has to strike out at every question in order for some semblance of fair coverage. Whatever happens we have to keep working and turn out the vote because that is all that will matter in the end.

27. AAR will be covering the debate
Janeanne and Sam will hook up with Mike Malloy to make commentary. I would prefer to see the expressions and the camera shots, but it might be better for the soul to listen to it on AAR, instead of throwing things and yelling at the TV.
