Faux to control cameras during debate - will disregard rules

We've warned again and again that, above all else, the Kerry campaign had to guard against FOX News getting its hands on the debates.  We told you the Bush team would work any angle possible to get FOX involved, and that if the Kerry campaign allowed this, we've warned for months now, they would lose the election.  All seemed safe, as the moderators and hosts for the agreed to debates did not include FOX in any way, and it seemed unthinkable the Kerry campaign would allow FOX into the mix.

But now we learn, as reported by CNN, FOX News will be entirely in control of the camera coverage for the entire media during the most important of the debates, the very first one scheduled for Thursday night.

If the Kerry camp allows this, they will likely lose the election.

The images broadcast during a debate are arguably more important than what is said.  And by being by chosen to man the pool camera for the first debate, FOX News will have entire control over what America sees and how they see it.

And, as if there were any question, FOX News is making clear they will take every opportunity to catch Kerry sweating or with a weird face when he isn't talking or anything unflattering anytime - even against the negotiated rules agreed to by the candidates.

As CNN reports:  "Because of journalistic standards, we're not going to follow outside restrictions," said Paul Schur, a spokesman for Fox News, which is manning the pool camera for the first debate Thursday in Miami, Florida."

I remember in 2000 they created a "makeup" gate for Gore - but those watching on non-faux channels didn't see it. It has been taken care of.

1. Yup

I don't know if it will cause him to lose the election, but it is certain that they will see to it that his images are done in a poor way, while Bush will take the stage and look like a real "leader"

2. Same authors predicted right Faux dirty tricks during primaries
So if it sounds breathless, it's because they know what they are talking about.
I expect hallos over W, horns over Kerry - maybe a few laRouchians intrerrupting him too.

3. That's ok... there's lots of other rules Kerry doesn't have to follow
to put Bush on the spot and make him look bad no matter what he says and no matter the camera angle.

4. kerry will follow rules. he'll do fine - but "ORANGE" will be the spin
Unless of course faux will come with something else.
Faux handled the New Hampshire debate. Moderate Independent warned it will be a trap for Clark - and sure enough all his questions were snarky - including the memorable: "why didn't you shut Moore up when he mentioned AWOL at your rally?"
Faux is the master of dirty triks. In 2001, when a misguided protest was organized in NYC, Roger Ailes came with umbrellas and coffees - it was pouring rain. Some scmucks took the umbrellas and were filmed holding them amongst the signs - they had the Faux logo on them.

Please, he has a suntan and that's something awful? People at some point real soon are going to get real disgusted at that pettiness especially since that's all they have to offer.

5. I would imagine that the plan is.....
If things go badly for Bush, then Fox breaks all the rules, no more debates. See, you actually can make chicken salad out of chicken shit.I'll be glad when it's over.Kerry isn't against Bush. He's up against the whole Murdock/Rove mafia.
