Bush brings up the "flip-flopper" charge
Kerry: "I have already addressed the factual consistency of my positions. And if I may add, Mr. President, when the result of your policies is a flop, then strong leadership is to flip -- not to dig deeper into the ditch. If a President is a flop, then for the good of our country, he should be flipped."

It addreses Bush's stuborness at the same time as it's addressing the "changing horses in midstream" thing. And it steals away the "flip-flopper" sound-byte. I doubt they would dare repeat it after that kind of a zinger...

A boy can dream, can't he?

1. Pot, meet kettle
Bush has flipped more times than a Romanian gymnast.

2. I was more talking about when he's not flipping
As in, "staying the course" even though what he's doing is a disaster. I do think Kerry should address Bush's "flip-flops" or inconsistencies, but in another way, without explicitly tying it to the "flip-flop" soundbyte -- because that would sound too much like "well, well, you are a flip-flopper too!". I think he should bring up Bush's inconsistencies at other moments -- but that he should answer to Bush's explicit reference to the "flip-flop" sound byte by saying that, basically, a charge of inconsistency is grotesque when coming from someone who is consistent only in failure -- and that at this point, a little "inconsistency" in Bush's "course" would only be good for the country, but he can't even do that.
