Eisenhower "Generations" Ads: These are a gift from above.
Listen. I posted these as a response in the main thread. Please don't hate me for starting a new thread with them. It's just that I've been designing some nasty stuff and these three gave me real pleasure. Each features a quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower followed by a quote from John Eisenhower's editorial today. Enjoy!

The page(s) above, as well as others, is/are available as free, full-size, high-resolution JPEG or PDF downloads at http://www.bigpath.net. 10. $105 Trillion:ike tax rate:tiny type: who's John?: middle, long.
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 11:22 PM by oscar111
fine job, thanks!
quibbles... middle one too long.

Need to use large type at the top to tell all just who John eisenhower is... his son? what does he do nowadays? tiny type at the bottom probably tells who he is, but this monitor has your tiny type unreadable.

As i said, avoid tiny type anywhere, about any topic.

Might add ... the basic problem dems have is repubs' detaxing the rich. That makes all our programs to help folks, unfunded.

Ike taxed them to the max, ninety percent, in fifty two. now, thirty five percent. we had prosperity in 52. So, find some quote about ike's tax rate, for a poster. Till we do what clinton said, "retax the rich", we will fail to end social problems. {Reubin of Treasury told clinton not to speak that phrase in public, so he did not.}

But it still is what we must do to solve the root of our basic problem. Till we expand the pie, we will just have advocacy groups fightng each other for a shrinking pie. Till the pie vanishes. "starve the beast" is the repub phrase.

National wealth is 105 Trillion dollars. Go to-----

FRB: Z.1 Release--L.5--Total Liabilities and Its Relation to Total Financial Assets--September 16, 2004

http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/Z1/Current/accessible/l5.htm

====Assets are "only" $25 trillion if you think we must sub the liabilities on line 20, same table L5.

Homelessness can be ended with a mere $4 billion/yr section eight vouchers, hunger ended with a mere 12 billion/year. A drop compared to 105 Trillion in wealth. A shame only one percent of dems can quote this figure. A shame. No wonder we lose debates at the office water cooler.

18. Every sentence of John Eisenhower's Editorial is quotable.
To have someone who has been a Republican all his life, and the son of a Republican president, not only endorse Kerry, but completely criticize Bush and the Republicans speaks volumes about the current state of the GOP. (Not so Grand anymore, is it?)

I would hope this editorial would resonate particularly with older voters who remember him. I think if everyone of that generation took the time to read the editorial, you're talking about turning undecideds into Democratis voters.

11. It would be nice to have a Republican like Ike today
Instead of the true dickheads they have today. Republicans haven't always been repukes, but the Clinton administration changed all that. Or did it start before then?

14. Forwarde to my in-laws in Dickinson County, Kansas...
They live in Herington, but Ike grew up in Abilene, KS, and his Presidential Library is there.

The local papers in these small towns reprint editorials from larger papers sometimes. I would like them to print John Eisenhower's full column.

16. Hey! I like Ike!
He was a Republican ... back when that wasn't synonymous with chickenhawk. Even my Dad (a self described "Kennedy Democrat") voted for him. I think that was the only Republican my Dad ever voted for ... ok yeah, and Bo Calloway, when Lester Maddox was the alternative for Governor of Georgia. (Dad couldn't stand Lester.)
