The whole flip-flopper thing comes from the very basic fact that Kerry fought in Vietnam, then came home and criticized the war.
One way to spin that is to squeal "inconsistent!" (ala Karl Rove).
But looking at the facts on the table, given WHAT WE KNOW NOW, I say Kerry was RIGHT TWICE. He was right to do his duty, to put his life on the line for our great country. (Which he didn't have to do)
And then, when he returned home, he stood up to power and told the truth about what was happening. I know it hurts some veterans to hear the things Kerry said to congress, but he SPOKE THE TRUTH and he was right to do so because it helped end the war sooner and saved lives.
So the truth about the Iraq war is that Saddam WAS an evil guy and to put pressure on him to fully disarm, the president needed the authority to do it. Think about it, Bush could have won the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE if he'd used that authority the right way and avoided war, made Saddam leave the country (that offer was on the table briefly, if you remember).
And now, given how messed up things have gotten over there, Kerry's right to speak the TRUTH that is being covered up by Bush.
He's gotten it RIGHT Twice, again.
Kerry needs to hammer this home tomorrow night: Bush has said he'd do the same thing all over again in Iraq, knowing what we know now.
And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
