I think John Kerry really likes Colorado.
He is about to come here for the 5th time in 3 months. He does have a connection because he was born here. It is interesting and heartening to see a Democratic Presidential candidate to pay that much attention to this state. Something Gore didn't do and Clinton did better but not this much.

1. He was born there
and I am sure he thinks its a nice state, really is a pretty one, my aunt has lived out there since the 70's, plus his strengths on environmental issues could turn out the democratic base out there which I know is quite pro environment.

2. I think he has a good chance to win too. How do you see it? He is the
outdoors type and CO is beautiful I hear. I'll be going there one of these days.

5. Kerry can push a couple things here...
- the environment is important and followed closely
- boulder and more intelligent parts of the front range are rabid kerry supporters on a scale with californians...even independants like myself
- the democratic senator (salzar) running against coors has a good lead (9-10%) and a history of winning statewide elections as attorney general, has a strong long term farming connection to colorado, and has strong hispanic support that will help elsewhere (if i remember correctly Salazar could be the first hispanic senator in ~30 years)...pugs don't want to lose this seat
- a large part of the military here (a lot in colorado springs) are enlisted and have been or are going into iraq...and they know this situation is FUBAR
- even if he loses the state he will likely get some electoral votes as w have Amendment 36 that will likely split the EC votes along popularity lines....

besides I think it is good for other parts of the country to see that he is interested in more than Penn, Ohio and Florida
