Alert: Ignore the New TxANG/Rather/Killian Memos Decoy
The White House just released new TxANG documents during the midnight news dump, and the Freepers are now pushing a story here that the Killian Memos are legit. Ignore it all. It's so obviously a decoy meant to throw us all offtrack on the most important day of the campaign. It's a distraction meant to take attention off the debate.

Don't worry about superscripted "th" or IBM Selectrics or Jerry Killian right now. Don't take the bait. We need to stay 100% on focus, on message and on track today. Our job is to get our talking points out and serve as the "echo chamber" to counter the media spin. Today, of all days, is not the day to be talking about the CBS memos.

Also, without naming any names, make the "alert" button your friend today. I have been alerting like crazy the last two days because some people are being so obvious.

2. Huh?
I thought the Freepers were all-out to prove the Killian memos were bogus. Now they're saying the memos are legit ... but it's a distraction?

What's going on here?

Go read the thread about the Killian memos. Freepers are now pushing a story that the memos could be legit. White House also just released new docs at the midnight news dump.

Ignore it, ignore it, ignore it. It's bait and switch tactics meant to take the focus off the debates.

Come on people, use your brains on this one.

5. You're very welcome, Bridget!
It's always nice to have veteran members like you keep us newer folks on track. God forbid we focus on important things like, you know, today's Presidential Debate! We can't have that now, can we?

:grouphug:

It's up to you to keep more important things, like the TxANG story and memogate, in the spotlight. Focusing on the issues and the debate benefits Kerry, so of course we can't have that! It's important to get these bait-and-switch stories out early to keep Kerry out of the headlines.

So go ahead, Bridget! Talk all you want about memogate and TxANG and Dan Rather. The folks at FoxNews are behind you 100%.

7. Steady, steady--
I haven't done a lot of post midnight posting recently, so I'm a little taken aback by the animosity here. Battle jitters will cause us to bite our friends, right now. It would probably benefit all of us to be a little patient, if we can. Yes there are trolls among us, but it's probably a good idea to reserve judgement a little- we can always go back and let the mods clean up the blood and poop on the floor, but pissing off a potential friend and ally could do a lot of damage that is tough to correct. Thanks, folks.

9. I'm referring to what appears to me to be an
attitude here of a mite too much readiness to brand a low post count individual with a point of view that may look a little roachy as a disrupter. In actual fact, I was more defending you than anything else, and certainly meaning no one offense. Defusing contentious situations has always been one of my failings in life-just can't hep m'sef.

I have gone over to FR and read up on their threads from time to time, and I do find, with rare exception, it seems that there is a sort of common mental disease. Occasionally one of them apparently gets sick of the BS and comes over here to get educated a bit. I've seen a few that were attacked very quickly, here, when, in my opinion, they had not really urped on the floor enough yet to justify their banning.

I think most of us have gotten pretty touchy, of late, and I try to calm things down from time to time.

10. The point of my original post
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 04:53 AM by indyjones1938
was to encourage people here to stay focused and on-message in the face of (1) a midnight White House TxANG document drop and (2) FR efforts designed to switch the topic of discussion away from the Presidential Debate and back to memogate/Dan Rather. It's classic Rove bait-and-switch. Why else would the White House release documents literally on the eve of the debates?

Our efforts today should be entirely on helping Kerry amplify his talking points and preparing for the media spin. It boggles my mind why some here still insist on talking about IBM Selectrics, superscripts and proportional fonts on this, the most important day of the campaign so far.

11. Yeah, me too.
This just goes along with the general crap now, like "who would you rather have a beer with." I don't want to have a beer with any of them (although I would like to meet Nancy Pelosi). What I want is an intelligent, sober minded, forward thinking clear headed leader without a particular axe to grind about history or revenge. All this focus on form instead of substance is so gaggingly transparent.

Gotta stay focussed on what's important.
