The Quinnipiac University survey of likely state voters has Kerry leading Bush 50 percent to 44 percent, with 2 percent supporting independent candidate Ralph Nader.
Only 33 percent of Kerry supporters said they are were voting because they support the Democrat, while 63 percent say they were planning to cast a vote against Bush.
"Neither candidate is particularly well-liked here in Connecticut. More people have a negative than a positive view of George Bush and Connecticut voters are mixed on John Kerry," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz. "So, it's not like these findings are a resounding endorsement of John Kerry."
