SC Democrat ahead in Senate race poll
From Inez:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have great news!

A new poll, just released today, shows that we have pulled ahead of Jim DeMint. Conducted September 27-29, the poll shows that among likely voters, I lead the race by three points, 46% to 43%.

Just when they said the door had been slammed shut on my campaign for the U.S. Senate -- when the so-called "pundits" were casting doubts about my candidacy -- a new window of opportunity opened up to us, and we seized it.

I endured weeks of attacks, funded by a shadow group, "Americans for Job Security," and labeled "misleading" by South Carolina's top newspapers. And now, Jim DeMint is on the air with ads of his own attacking me and attacking our schools.

But we're fighting back with powerful and effective ads of our own, highlighting Jim DeMint's regrettable support for a 23% federal sales tax and his bad record on jobs and trade. Now we've redefined and refocused the Senate race here in South Carolina, and we're on the way to winning.

Frankly, I've never been more confident about our chances than I am right now. I know we can win the election - now just a month away - but only if I have the continued backing of supporters like you.

At midnight tonight, our fundraising for the third quarter comes to a close, and we are close to meeting our goal.

I need your help today to ensure that we are able to keep the momentum building in our favor. This is a critical deadline and represents the last quarterly fundraising report that will occur before the November election.

I hope you will consider a contribution today to help us reach our goal by midnight.

I can't do this without you. I know that together we can win this race for the working families of South Carolina.

Very truly yours,

Inez Tenenbaum

3. This is very good news
I'm optimistic, especially considering that the 16 % spread in the presidential race seems accurate as well. It looks like she could do well even if Bush wins by a decisive margin.

I've said it before. We've been blessed with some strong candidates in these Southern primaries. Betty Castor, Inez Tenenbaum, and Erskine Bowles are all solid candidates. I'm more and more convinced that we can hold at least three (maybe more) of these Southern states.

It would crush retired people by taxing almost everything they buy, including food and medicine.

10. She was smart to demolish him so quickly over the flat tax idea
Her campaign wasted no time to put out her ad blasting him on the flat tax, and the facts pointed out in her ad were accurate according to the news articles that have come out about the bill that he and other Repubs have been supporting. He looks lame and sheepish in his new ad where he claims that he doesn't want to raise our taxes but he still admits he wants the sales tax instead and he doesn't disclaim the 23% figure she uses.

11. lots of white good old boys in SC pissed off about the economy
was talking to one about 55 years old, voted for bush in 2000, now seeing his business turn to shit due to imports and job flight who said he would not vote for bush in 2004.... i rubbed it in about how bush and the gop were such fiscal conservatives and that bush spent $200B on i-rack but won't help the working man.

To everyone who wrote this race off, please, do anything you can. This woman can win this seat and help us retake the Senate. I had planned to donate $200 tonight, and by virtue of this news, Inez just got it. Go!!!!!
